Here's how to create a signature:

Base Creation

  1. Create a page for your signature here.
  2. Edit the page and insert this text:
    Username
    , replacing "Username" with your username. Like That
    Yourusername

Customization

If you want your name to be colored or have a different font, insert this text instead of the text in number two:

[[User:Username|
Bowserlover15]]

If you want to link to your talk page and your contributions page, insert this text after the text in numbers two or three:

(talk · edits)

Once you have the signature created the way you want it, save the edit. Then go to your preferences page. Be sure to follow all rules outlined in MarioWiki:Signature.

Preparing for Usage

Once you are at your preferences page, change the text in the "Signature" box to this:

See nosubst for more information.

Make sure the "Raw signatures (without automatic link)" option is checked, then save your preferences and empty your cache.

Usage

Now that your signature is set up, know how to work it:

Code Turns into Appears as Mainly used for
~~~  User (talk) welcoming
~~~~  00:00, 1 January 2000 (UTC) User (talk) 00:00, 1 January 2000 (UTC) talk pages
~~~~~ 00:00, 1 January 2000 (UTC) 00:00, 1 January 2000 (UTC) welcoming, recording of date and time
Pages Where You Don't Use Signatures
Certain pages do not allow these signature codes to be used on them, a majority of them being MarioWiki namespace pages. You can tell when not to use signatures when the page mentions that it follows the "No-Signature Policy". For more information about the policy, check this page.
