Davy Bones is encountered by Donkey Kong in the Aqua World. He tries to attack Donkey Kong by lunging at him from one of the holes he inhabits. If Donkey Kong attacks him just as he does for a normal enemy, he knocks Davy Bones out of a short period of time. Whenever Davy is stunned like this, Donkey must grab hold of a small red spot on Davy's tail before the creature sinks to the bottom of the stage and swing him into a nearby row of spikes that are placed along the walls. After bashing Davy into these spikes several times, the zombified sea creature explodes and Donkey obtains the golden medal that Davy was guarding.
Davy Bones' Locker
Davy Bones' Locker is the stage where Davy Bones is fought and the last stage of the Aqua World. It is an underwater level, surrounded by a multitude of spikes that are vital to defeating Davy Bones. Once the boss inhabiting it is beaten, the stage is completed, allowing Donkey Kong to move on to the next world.
Trivia
- The name "Davy Bones", as well as the name of the level he is located, are derived from the old sea legend of Davy Jones' Locker.
- Davy Bones bears limited resemblance to the Yoshi's Story enemy Bone Dragon. The two characters also pose similarly in their official artwork.
- In DK: King of Swing's sequel, DK: Jungle Climber, there is a dragon boss that is very similar to Davy Bones both in appearance and the way Donkey Kong fights it.
