Boat Mario is a origami-like transformation in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It allows Mario and his partners to traverse across waters unscathed. Like his other origami-themed forms, it is granted to him in the form of a "curse" from one of the Black Chest Demons.
Boat Mario Mode allows Mario to morph into a paper boat that can cross water, however, that can only happen by pressing the GameCube controller's "Y" button on top of a Boat Panel. It is very similar to Plane Mario mode due to this matter. Unlike Plane Mario however, Mario cannot exit boat mode unless he touches another Boat Panel.
A minigame in the Pianta Parlor utilizes this move.
