Diddy Kong Pilot was going to be a sequel to Diddy Kong Racing, but got cancelled. After it's cancellation Diddy Kong Pilot was converted into the game Banjo Pilot. Characters confirmed to appear in the game were Krunch, Dixie Kong, Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong, King K. Rool, Cranky Kong and an unamed, new Kong who resembled a stereotypical hillbilly.
It is unknown if all the characters featured in Diddy Kong Racing would return in Diddy Kong Pilot, but it is possible. Diddy Kong Pilot would have been Rare's first game on the Game Boy Advance had it not been cancelled.
