It may just as well simply be a reference to the folkloric creature (Tanuki) and not the Isle Delfino Tanookis (somewhat more likely actually, since the "u" is used here).--[[User:Vellidragon|vellidragon]] 10:27, 5 December 2009 (EST)

Huh?

Why is this page conjectural?

We don't know if the racoons in Mario Sunshine are Tanookis or not. Parayoshiicon.jpgPara Yoshi Wahoo!Parayoshiicon.jpg 15:59, 17 February 2007 (EST)

I was wondering why they don't bring tanooki's back. I mean, they're giant racoons, who wouldn't want those around. I just don't get it. IandaM: userpage

True but why is it both Conjecture and official? Silent but deadly! SuperLuigi821 You lost everything. Way to go genious.

Tanookis are real, we just dont know if the ones in SMS are. Full Metal MoogleKirbyWalk.gif

The template seems strange to me, since Tanookis only appeared in one game. Well, they exist outside of the game, but there also Octopus beneath the conjecturally named boss. The article's title is either official or pure conjecture. --Grandy02 15:32, 20 November 2008 (EST)

The template means that some of the info is officially referring to the concept of "Tanooki," while other elements have not been explicitly labeled as "Tanooki," but seem to be referring to the same central topic. For example, "Tanooki" officially refers to the Tanooki Suit and other similar topics, which conjecturally relates to the unnamed raccoon species the article refers to as "Tanooki." -- Son of Suns

Platitudinous (talk) Let's stop worrying about whether or not the name is conjectural. Why can the Tanooki/racoon (yes, it's ironic that I did that) in the blue coin hut keep all those Shines and get away with it? Similar things apply to characters elsewhere on the island as well.

TNUKI
