A Snowman first appeared in Super Mario 64, under the name "Headless Snowman". Here only one appears and has had his body melted. If the players make him a new one, he will reward them with a Power Star. There is also a snowman enemy called Mr. Blizzard, whom can be easily defeated.
A Snowman or Snowmen appear as obstacles in the Mario Kart 64 course, Frappe Snowland and the Mario Kart DS course, DK Pass. When the player collides with one of these snowmen, the player will drop any items they have, and they will be knocked backwards a fair way. In DK Pass, they are much more dangerous, as they can potentially knock the player off the edge, and into an abyss. These snowmen are seen to have scarves around their necks. Note that Frappe Snowland also appears in Mario Kart DS's Retro Grand Prix.
