Worms are thin, tube-shaped creatures. Fictitious versions of them have been adapted for the Mario series based off of the non-fictional creatures. They appear both in "The Bird! The Bird!" and in the Super Mario Bros. film. And a worm boss named Wormwould appeared in Wario Land 3.
