Template:Smrpgenemy An Arachne is a large black and yellow arachnid with three red eyes and an egg-like in their back. They resided in Rose Way during the events of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Arachnes are very powerful and have an enormously high defense rating (as compared to Mario and his party when they are first encountered). As such, these spiders can be a serious threat to adventurers. Despite being so strong, Arachnes never attack on their own; they always aid other monsters and are never seen outside of battle. During a confrontation, an Arachne attacks by gouging its victim with its deadly fangs. The spider monster also knows the special attack Venom Drool, which allows it to poison the opponent. Although physically strong, Arachnes are quite susceptible to most magic attacks.

Trivia

  • The Arachne's Psychopath quote refers to the song "Day-O" (also known as "The Banana Boat Song") made popular by musician Harry Belafonte. The reference is, specifically, from this stanza from the song:

A beautiful bunch o' ripe banana
(Daylight come and me wan' go home)
Hide the deadly black tarantula
(Daylight come and me wan' go home)

  • Arachne is the name of the Greek goddess of spiders.
