The Nintendo DS is a handheld game system with two screens, the bottom one being a touch screen, that was released in 2004 by Nintendo. Probably, DS means Dual Screen. A newer model called the DS Lite was released in 2006 with four brightnes settings and a smaller overall size (this one having the negative side effect of where a regular Game Boy Advance cartridge would stick out from the bottom in a similar fashion experienced when playing a Game Boy or Game Boy Color cartridge in the older Game Boy Advance SP). This was the first system Nintendo made to go online (Mario Kart DS being the first Nintendo made online game), using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
