Cooligans are penguin enemies found in the game New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They are blue penguin like creatures that sport a pair of sunglasses. These enemies first appear in World 3 and usually appear in ice levels. They are seen sliding and can damage Mario and the others if they run into one. One jump will knock of their shades, causing them to become vulnerable to other enemy attacks. These creatures can easily be defeated by a Fire Flower, Star, or being frozen via Ice Flower or Penguin Suit. It should be noted though that Cooligans will continue to slide even if they are frozen, allowing the heroes to use them as platforms to reach Star Coins and other objects. They reappear in World 9-5.
Trivia
- The Cooligan's name is a play on the words cool and hooligan.
- The Cooligan's attack pattern is notably similar to another penguin-based enemy, the Lemguin.
