They're huge compared to a normal Yoshi.

Chomp Sharks are giant sized Chain Chomps without a chain in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Although they aren't underwater, they can fly, and this is a trouble for Yoshies and Baby Mario. The second-to-last level in the game is called "KEEP MOVING!!!", and for good reason too. Several Chomp Sharks appear and make backtracking impossible.

A Chomp Shark also appears in Yoshi's Island DS, also Tap-Tap the Golden uses a similar attack style to Chomp Sharks in this game.

There will be a point where the Chomp Shark will get hit by a wall, and get his teeth broken. Then he will fall down crying. They usually only appear in areas with breakable platforms over a bottomless pit.
