Skill Points are used in the Mario & Luigi franchise as used for special attacks by Mario & Luigi. They make appearences in both Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.
Superstar Saga
Mario & Luigi first used skill points in this game. After gaining Bros. Moves, you were able to use SP. In using skill points, a Bro. move used a certain amount of SP to use it. When you rank up, you get more SP to use when you battle. As you SP goes down, you can not use the more costly moves that require more SP. When you run out, you can not use any bro. moves to aid you in battle. To grab more SP, Mario or Luigi should drink some syrup, so you can start using Bro. moves again.
Bowser's Inside Story
The skill points return in this game two sequels from Superstar Saga. The same rules apply; As your SP goes down, you can't use higher SP using moves, and use syrups to refill the SP.
