Template:Racecourse Mushroom Gorge is the third course of the Mushroom Cup from Mario Kart Wii. The course is located on a mountainous zone with tall mushrooms rising over cloudy abysses, where racers have to use some of them as platforms to pass certain gorges. Characters travel the course mainly on land throughout the course. However, in the middle of the route, they enter a cave where they find an abyss full of mushroom platforms. Players can drive two different ways over these mushrooms to cross the cave. Red mushrooms will cause drivers to bounce, so players can elaborate a trick while they are in the air to get a small boost of speed later. The green-capped mushrooms, however, do not cause vehicles to bounce. Some Goombas appear serving as obstacles on the track.
Track Layout
When the race starts, there will be a curving wooden bridge. At the end of that bridge is the course's first giant mushroom which players can bounce (and do a trick) on. Zooming ahead, there are two more mushrooms to bounce across or a curved path with several speed ups if the path with the pits does not please. Entering the cave there is a curve followed by a huge pit with many mushrooms all over it. This cave introduces the green mushrooms which players can drive across. There are two pathways through the pit, players can either take the high one or the low one; both are just as fast. At the end of the cave, there is a very sharp turn with Goombas walking around that leads back to the finish line.
Shortcuts
In Mushroom Gorge, there is a shortcut that will allow the player to speed past the regular curving route and get a boost, although it requires a Mushroom, and is recommended for Time Trials. After starting the race with a turbo boost, the player should head to the left. After the player has headed left, they'll see that there's no fence and that there's a crevice. As soon as the player is a few lengths away from the crevice, use a Mushroom to get a boost. The player will be flung onto a large Mushroom. Perform a trick, bounce on the other giant Mushroom, perform a trick, and the player should land back on the pathway.
Another much harder shortcut, which probably was programmed unintentionally, is as soon as you exit the cave, power slide to the left. Go towards the crack and use a mushroom just before you get on the grass. Hop right to the end before you leave the ground. If performed correctly, you should make it across, saving a fair few seconds. This is how some of the Top Ten and others use their three mushrooms.
A third shortcut, caused by a programming glitch, allows the player to avoid nearly the entire course. The player must drive straight until it reaches on the left of the pole. then, turn and boost a mushroom. The player will see that it first jumps on a gigantic mushroom. The player must do a trick on the mushroom. and after that, you must lift the Wii wheel up on the air like your making the player do a wheelie. hold it there and then you will see that the player has reach a mountain.( kind of like a tall rock ) Then you will hear some sounds like an object hitting a stone repeating a few times. The player must land right after the last mushroom of the cave. Try to do a harder trick on the mushroom so that the player can go higher the mountain. Otherwise, the player may just not go behind the beginning line. Or may just fall down at the hole your required to jump for the 2nd shortcut. After you land, follow the path and after you have pass the line, you will go to the second lap. Repeat the shortcut 2 more times and you will finish the coarse. you can only do this shortcut with three mushrooms. try not to do it in Grand Prix , VS races and WFC. it will be risky. And this is the ultra shortcut of Mushroom Gorge.
Tournament
The second tournament of June 2008 was a Time Trial of Mushroom Gorge - however, the course had to be driven through backwards. Ramps were added to the beginnings of the mushroom paths (or else it would be impossible to land on them).

Trivia
- 4 of the red mushrooms appear in DS Yoshi Falls tournament of July 15th-25th.
- This course has red mushrooms (like the traditional mushroom) and green ones (like 1-Ups. This is one of the two appearances that 1-Ups make in Mario Kart Wii.
