The Piranha Plant Capsule first appeared in Mario Party 5, where it could be thrown to a space on the board, or used on the player for five coins, which is pointless. Whoever landed on a space containing this capsule got chewed up by a Piranha Plant and was then spat out. They lost half their coins from this. In Mario Party 6 and Mario Party 7, it became the Piranha Plant Orb that players could only place on a space (and costs fifteen coins at the Orb Shop). Opponents that landed on a space containing the Orb again got eaten by a Piranha Plant and lost half their coins, but the owner of that space received the coins.
