Link titleTemplate:Catch Card Shlurps are purple caterpillar-like enemies in the Wii game Super Paper Mario, living in Gloam Valley and in the Flipside Pit of 100 Trials. These strange creatures are almost invincible thanks to their extremely hard exoskeleton. Despite having lots of legs, they move very slowly, and keep going in the same direction, even when they hit a wall, which highlights their placid temper. Shlurps suck up and swallow anything they find in their way. Actually, if Mario gets too close to a Shlurp, it will suck him up and spit him out, thus damaging him. The only way to defeat these enemies is to get them to swallow an explosive, that is to say, Boomer.

There are tougher versions of these enemies, named Shlorps.

HP: ??

Tattle: That bizarre creature is a Shlurp. It has tough skin and an appetite for everything... Max HP is ??, attack is 2, and Defense is ??. No attack will work... But Shlurps are just as fragile inside as they are tough on the outside... Maybe you should try feeding it something that would give it indigestion..."

Trivia

  • Like quite a few enemies from Super Paper Mario, Shlurps are probably based on an enemy from the Legend of Zelda video game series--in this case, the Dodongo-type of enemy. Dodongos, like Shlurps, are tough-skinned creatures that in most cases can only be destroyed by eating a bomb. However, Shlurps look more like an enemy similar to Dodongoes known as Dodongo Snakes from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.
  • Shlurp seem to be devoid of eyes, and would then be totally blind. This may explain their even-tempered behaviour as well as their slowness.
