A Red Egg is a red Yoshi Egg first found in Super Mario World. The egg hatches into a Baby Red Yoshi. When adult Red Yoshis lay eggs, the egg is usually a Red Egg.
Red Eggs also play an important role in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and later Yoshi's Island DS. If a Green Egg had recoiled many times off a wall, it would turn into a Red Egg. However, if it recoiled too much, the egg would be useless and fall off-screen. Red Eggs could also be obtained from red Egg Blocks, though unlike the green Egg Block, a Yoshi only got one egg. When Red Eggs hit an enemy, two Stars would appear where the impact was.
