Clawgrip, also known as Clawglip due to a mistake in the credits, is a giant rock throwing crab that inhabits Subcon in Super Mario Bros 2. Hailing from the 5th world, he acts as an end boss much like the Mousers do. In the original Doki Doki Panic game Clawgrip did not exist and his place was filled in by a third Mouser. But in turning the game to Super Mario Bros. 2, the programmers added Clawgrip.
In the Game Boy Advance remake of Super Mario Bros. 2, before the battle with Clawgrip he says "Yar you'll make tasty treat!". It is also revealed that he was once a Sidestepper turned into Clawgrip by one of Warts bubbles. However, crabs don't appear anywhere else in the game. This also makes Clawgrip a mere road block instead of being one of Warts generals.
Clawgrip is one of the first American-made Mario enemies.
