#{{User|Terekuribo}} This is indeed a difficult case, but I think we should keep Pokeynut merged with Big Pokey. Despite it's different name, it looks just like a Big Pokey from the ''Double Dash-Kart Wii'' era, with no notable difference unlike the Pokey and the Pokeyplant (and it's different behavior can be explained by the fact that all other Pokeys in Super Mario Galaxy act like this in a way or another). I can see why people want to split this article, but I think it could create confusion among casual readers of the wiki.

Coincidental similarity

Given that the SMG iteration is less based on size "Coco Sanbo", and that we've found discovery, what should we do about them? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 11:49, April 20, 2019 (EDT)

LTL and I discussed it a while back, and agreed that the current setup makes more sense, since they've clearly both intended of variations of generic Pokey, and one is massively larger. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:44, April 20, 2019 (EDT)
What about the Mario Kart ones? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 13:04, August 29, 2019 (EDT)
They appear alongside the regular Pokeys and are clearly meant to be Big Pokeys. TheDarkStar Sprite of the Dark Star from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey 13:06, August 29, 2019 (EDT)
Out of curiosity, what are their internal filenames? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 13:07, August 29, 2019 (EDT)
DharmaSambo for the regular/red one and CocoSambo for the yellow/big one, which match with the game's Japanese names. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:19, August 29, 2019 (EDT)
No, i mean the Mario Kart ones. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 13:19, August 29, 2019 (EDT)
In Double Dash, it seems they share the same model (root/Course/Desert.arc/desert/object/sanbo1.bmd) just at different scales, which actually isn't that uncommon for different sizes of the same enemy. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:28, August 29, 2019 (EDT)
Yes, as I have mentioned multiple times before (notably in relation to Strollin' Stus) N64 and GCN models were commonly scaled all over the place without differences in behavior. When there's only two sizes and the size difference is enormous, that's like what separates Tiny-Huge Island things, as well as this. When the size differences are all ovr the place, like DK64 Gnawties and the Strollin' Stus, there's no point in splitting each. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:50, August 29, 2019 (EDT)

Pokey Nut Current Status

Mario portal see The "Pokey Nut" as a diferent suspect from Big Pokey, this name has been here for a while so, what we should do with him, make a split proposal?Sorbetti (talk) 13:07, March 16, 2025 (EDT)

Since Pokeyplant is now split from Pokey, it stands to reason to split this as well in my opinion. Though visually, it is simply Big Pokey. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:33, March 16, 2025 (EDT)
I didn't even notice Pokeyplant got split. I guess it makes sense to split Pokeynut in turn, but should Pokeynut be considered a variant of Pokeyplant or Big Pokey? LinkTheLefty (talk) 20:32, March 16, 2025 (EDT)
Well, other than being in SMG, these don't really share any characteristics with Pokeyplant that they don't already with normal Pokey. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:07, March 16, 2025 (EDT)
Disregarding above conversation, i think they should be split on principle pokey plant is split. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 00:43, March 17, 2025 (EDT)

Split Pokeynut from Big Pokey

A Yellow Block from Super Mario World This talk page section contains an unresolved talk page proposal. Please try to help and resolve the issue by voting or leaving a comment.

They have different names in all available languages including Japanese, really although I don't see any physical difference from a common big pokey besides its attack form, Nintendo sees it as a different enemy from Big Pokey, and as we have separated Pokeyplant in the same way, we should do the same with this individual.

Split (Support)

  1. Sorbetti (talk) Per proposal.
  2. Nintendo101 (talk) I am under the impression that the Pokeynut is a Pokey that is big, but not quite a Big Pokey. I would oppose Pokeyplant being merged: its behavior is even more deliberately distinct.
  3. FanOfYoshi (talk) Per proposal. I'm actually not opposed to Pokeyplant being split and in fact i support it (wait, it was split during my absence?) but Coco Pokey is different enough in function for warrant a split.
  4. Camwoodstock (talk) Different behavior? Different way of defeating? Makes sense to us. Per proposal.

"Pokeynut" is written as one word. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:45, March 18, 2025 (EDT)

And "oposse" is "oppose", too. By the way, just about everyone who contributed to the above was in agreement to keep it consistent with Pokeyplant, which was split without a proposal. We can at least add an option to re-merge Pokeyplant with Pokey, if you feel a proposal is still needed. LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:58, March 18, 2025 (EDT)

I didn't say anything before, but I don't think this split is as simple as the Pokeyplant one. Pokeyplant at least looks unique compared to other Pokeys around this time, with the different colors and lack of spikes, but Pokeynut is really just a large Pokey. Resized enemies don't have the most consistent of names, as you know. Blinker (talk) 13:10, March 18, 2025 (EDT)
Well, there aren't really any normal Pokeys in the game to compare to, even if it does use the Double Dash!!-to-Kart Wii basic design. Granted, behavior-wise, it's mostly an enlarged version of the Sunshine Pokeys with an extra step added. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:40, March 24, 2025 (EDT)
Pokeyplant did have a split proposal, actually. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 14:28, March 18, 2025 (EDT)
