Spike ball (seed) relation?

Block Super Mario World.png This talk page or section has a conflict or question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment.

As I was seeing, it seems that this ball with thorns that the river piranha plant spits out is Spike Ball (seed) they are the same in color and it would make sense since it is a seed, its only difference would be the amount of spikes but very littleSorbetti (talk)

This is something I have noticed, too. I am curious to know what others think, but I think it is reasonable to consider them to be the same object. - Nintendo101 (talk) 20:03, March 4, 2025 (EST)
I think this is supposed to be the same object used by Ptooies, which sometimes have a different appearance from the version used by Spikes. LinkTheLefty (talk) 11:41, March 6, 2025 (EST)
I don't think so, the most current representations of Ptooi are of spike balls, like Spike's, while the current representations of River Piranha Plant resemble Spike ball(seed) and as I mentioned it makes a lot of sense.Sorbetti (talk)
The objects used by Ptooies and Spikes are also explicitly the same Shūringan. Although, speaking of Spikes, the projectiles used by Spikes in Super Mario Bros. Wonder are also green and flammable with yellow spikes, hm? I wonder what official sources say about Spikes in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Blinker (talk) 11:49, March 6, 2025 (EST)
What we saw in mario wonder is probably also a Spike Ball(seed) because of the name, besides it also makes sense because they are still spike balls only that of plants, which if you ask me makes more sense than a steel Spike Ball, finally the Tailies enemies in mario wonder can also produce these Spike Balls giving more sense to them being related to Spike Ball(seed)Sorbetti (talk)
The Super Mario Bros. Wonder ones are meant to be Shūringan (Model/EnemyGabonSchringan.bfres.zs). LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:45, March 6, 2025 (EST)
The coincidence is strange, however I think that River Piranha Plant and Tailies do use Spike Balls (seed)--Sorbetti (talk) 12:49, March 6, 2025 (EST)
Hm, do you by any chance also have the internal name for the River Piranha Plant's projectile? Blinker (talk) 14:39, March 6, 2025 (EST)
I believe, within the pakkun_water archive, it's pakkun_water_ball, which is rather generic. I think what might've happened was that the New Super Mario Bros.-era material tried phasing out the term Shūringan. LinkTheLefty (talk) 15:01, March 6, 2025 (EST)
So what should we do about it? I would be in favor of adding it to the page.Sorbetti (talk)
Maybe we can just note the visual similarities without stating if they are the same thing? LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:22, March 6, 2025 (EST)
Yes, I think that would be appropriate.Sorbetti (talk)
