Fair use sprite |
This is a pixel art sprite originally from a copyrighted computer or video game, and the copyright for it is most likely held by the company that developed the game. It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution sprites for identification and critical commentary on the computer or video game in question or the copyrighted character(s) depicted by the sprite in question qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law, as such display does not significantly impede the right of the copyright holder to sell the copyrighted material, is not being used to turn a profit in this context, and presents ideas that cannot be exhibited otherwise. See Wikipedia:Copyrights and fair use rationale. |

10:17, February 19, 2025 | ![]() | 32 × 32 (623 bytes) | Doc von Schmeltwick (talk | contribs) | Please remember there was a proposal that said to give priority to the 15 degree canonical palette. Regardless of how the pixel mapping looks, it should have that palette.

23:36, February 18, 2025 | ![]() | 16 × 16 (311 bytes) | Doc von Schmeltwick (talk | contribs) | That shading adapts better, actually
23:34, February 18, 2025 | ![]() | 16 × 16 (311 bytes) | Doc von Schmeltwick (talk | contribs) | On that note, how about we just hybridize them all?
23:25, February 18, 2025 | ![]() | 16 × 16 (308 bytes) | Doc von Schmeltwick (talk | contribs) | Actually, since the accurate one is uploaded elsewhere now, let's just use the smaller one from the ending since it's closer in size to the other level icons anyway.
23:23, February 18, 2025 | ![]() | 32 × 32 (616 bytes) | Doc von Schmeltwick (talk | contribs) | I'd argue it should be all or nothing; given how weirdly it's designed, we can't really say with 100% certainty what's meant to be "part" of the castle and what's meant to be seen through it. A pixel in the lower right might just be a blank space between the rim and a tower, and it may just be shading on the rim.
22:20, February 18, 2025 | ![]() | 32 × 32 (1 KB) | Waluigi Time (talk | contribs) | Reverted to version as of 17:00, February 18, 2025 (EST) If the sprite is already modified to more closely reflect how it appears in-game I don't see why having transparent pixels is "better".
20:23, February 18, 2025 | ![]() | 32 × 32 (611 bytes) | Doc von Schmeltwick (talk | contribs) | Reverted to version as of 16:54, February 18, 2025 (EST) You misunderstand, that's exactly what I'm going to do. The "accurate" transparency one features the transparency on the -outline- rather than the brown part. It's generally for the best to keep them four-colors-counting-transparency regardless, and given how it's shrunk on the templates a few internal pixels being transparent isn't going to make much if any difference.
17:00, February 18, 2025 | ![]() | 32 × 32 (1 KB) | Nintendo101 (talk | contribs) | Reverted to version as of 19:45, November 11, 2017 (EST) I understand that you wanted the assets exactly as their stored, but given how this specific one is utilized throughout the wiki in a template, I recommend uploading the one with transparency as a separate file. This asset has to be recognizable on non-black backgrounds. |
