Donkey Kong 3 was a game for the Game & Watch. Although the storyline was identical to the arcade version, the gameplay is drastically different. It features Stanley the Bugman and Donkey Kong, both at one side of the screen with a can of pesticide. They each used the can to push insects towards their opponents. After an insect successfully reaches one side of the screen, the character on that side will get bitten or stung (Uncertain due to the Game & Watches graphical capabilities). However, the objective was not as simple as firing pesticide towards your opponent. The insects would move up and down the screen, forcing the player to do the same if to succeed, and they each had a limited supply of pesticide, which could be refilled, although when refilling, the player's back is turned, rendering yourself defenseless.
The game was remade as part of Game & Watch Gallery 4 with a few differences. First off, Mario replaces Stanley (just like how Yoshi replaced him for the Modern Mode of Greenhouse in Game & Watch Gallery 3. Mario and Donkey Kong also had bubble shooters instead of pesticide sprayers. Lastly, the bugs had been replaced by a fireball and a Boo. The fireball would remain in place until pushed away by the bubbles. The Boo would attempt to sneak up on either Mario or Donkey Kong when one of them were busy refilling their bubble shooter.
