Hello, Nelsonic. Please remember to sign your comments on talk pages by typing four tildes at the end: ~~~~

Also, you don't need to add your username after this, as it is already included in the signature. Technetium (talk) 11:17, November 14, 2024 (EST)

Please add a link to the personality quiz you created.

Please add a link to the personality quiz you created. Also, all options and outcomes of the quiz should be covered on the page itself. You can use this page as reference. Axii (talk) 23:22, November 17, 2024 (EST)

Alright, I added the questions and outcomes. I'm not exactly sure how to link to the quiz, though, as I am not entirely sure how adding references works and the only link I can find is a re-upload that has not been archived by the Wayback Machine. Nelsonic (talk) 12:20, November 18, 2024 (EST)

It would help a lot if you added the link to the Flash game on the image file and game pages, so readers know where the information comes from (and that they're official). MarioWiki:Citations explains how to cite an external source if you're using it as a reference, or you can add an "External links" section at the bottom of the article with the link. For file pages, just add the link in the "2=" parameter in the aboutfile summary. Small Mario sprite from Super Mario Bros. Mario JC 20:35, November 24, 2024 (EST)

Image categories

When adding categories to images, they should always be [[Category:(Game title) images]]

Categories that don't end in "images" or "media files" like Category:Browser games do not go on file pages; they're for articles only. Small Mario sprite from Super Mario Bros. Mario JC 06:29, November 18, 2024 (EST)

Again, don't add "Browser games" as an image category. The image category should be "Category:(game) images" (without the parentheses - replace "(game)" with the game title). Small Mario sprite from Super Mario Bros. Mario JC 20:18, November 18, 2024 (EST)

If you create a new game image category, make sure it gets the category Category:Game images. Small Mario sprite from Super Mario Bros. Mario JC 21:10, November 21, 2024 (EST)

Moving files

After moving a file, make sure to update its names on any articles linking to them (listed under "File usage" on the file page), then mark the old name for deletion with {{delete}}. Small Mario sprite from Super Mario Bros. Mario JC 22:25, November 26, 2024 (EST)

Thanks

Luigiart6.png Luigi says you're a winner! Great job on your edits!

I just wanted to thank you on your coverage towards flash games almost nobody has heard of. Those could've gone under the radar, especially the iQue WarioWare ones. I also want to thank you for being one of the people who inspired me to join the wiki and make my first edit on a talk page so I could document Banpresto arcade games I discovered.

And one more thing, a confession. I didn't actually play Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Joke Spinner. I just saw Supper Mario Broth's article about the game and saw that as an opportunity to write a whole page with the information he had because I thought that was all that was available. (Sorry if that was edit-sniping). And then you told me about FEkids and that lead to a whole other discovery. Thanks for everything.

Rykitu (talk) December 11th, 2024

You're welcome! I'm glad I was able to inspire you to join the wiki, as well. I guess my endless Wayback Machine doom-scrolling is paying off. I'm not really in a position to say whether or not that's edit sniping (I literally just googled the term haha), but I'm sure it's all right. If you would like to play Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Joke Spinner, the archived version from FEKids is available here. Nelsonic (talk) 11:29, December 12, 2024 (EST)

Mario Golf blaster

What is the context behind this name you chose? Small Mario sprite from Super Mario Bros. Mario JC 01:01, December 26, 2024 (EST)

Certain early 2000s promotional games such as this were referred to as such, either because the content was marketed towards a large audience (similar to promotional email blasts) or because the game itself was quite short (metaphorically "blasting" the viewer with a Mario Golf promotion). Aboutfile template

Hello, Nelsonic. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below.

{{aboutfile
|1=Subject of the image
|2=Where you found the image
|3=Artist
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)
}}

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. A description of the image subject (parameter 1) should always be included, even if it's just a couple words. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using {{aboutfile}} incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Hiya! Awesome work on your recent uploads, but the "aboutfile" template must be used. You're removing the template and providing the necessary information on its own. Check my edit here for a reference - I put the information in the correct parameters of the "aboutfile" template. Thanks so much! link:User:Sparks Sparks (talk) link:User:Sparks 16:35, December 27, 2024 (EST)

Got it. Thanks for letting me know. I will try and use the template correctly for future uploads. Nelsonic (talk) 16:36, December 27, 2024 (EST)

I am confused about something, though. On the upload page it says "The text in the summary box is preloaded syntax for the aboutfile template, which must be formatted correctly or removed before uploading". Is this stating that the placeholder text should be removed, or is it stating that the entire template should be removed? I assume it is the former, though I thought I should ask for clarification. Nelsonic (talk) 16:42, December 27, 2024 (EST)

The placeholder text (for example, "Subject of the image") must be removed and replaced with a description of the image, like The logo for ''[[Bowser's Diary Quiz]]'', an HTML quiz available on the Paper Mario website.. There are five parameters, each with their own section:
  • "Subject of the image" is for describing what the image is.
  • "Where you found the image" describes the source of where the image was found.
  • "Artist" is for artwork and music. List the artist(s) involved with the image.
  • "Describe edits, if any" is for whatever modifications you made to the image, such as cropping.
  • "Other versions (use file link)" is to link to files similar to the image (like character artwork with a different background"

Not all parameters have to be used. Simply remove the ones you don't need! Hope this helps! link:User:Sparks Sparks (talk) link:User:Sparks 16:49, December 27, 2024 (EST)

Ah, got it. Thanks! Nelsonic (talk) 16:51, December 27, 2024 (EST)

Re: Dr. Health'nstein's Body Fun Bundle

Hi! One of the pages you have created, Dr. Health'nstein's Body Fun Bundle, has been considered for deletion, if not merge/redirect to the main article (Mario's Early Years! Fun with Numbers) due to the page falling out of scope of coverage for the wiki. If you have any comments to add, you can do so at Talk:Dr. Health'nstein's Body Fun Bundle. Mario It's me, Mario!
