Wall-Kicking It Underground (or World 1-2) is the second level of World 1 and the second level overall in Super Mario Run. It is the second level available for free in the game. The World Star level Wild Slopes is unlocked if the player clears this level with 400 coins or more.

Layouts[edit]

Pink Coins[edit]

The level starts with a Super Mushroom and two walls for which to Wall Jump off of. Immediately upon approaching the first Goomba, the player can wall jump up a hard-to-miss opening containing forty coins. Upon traveling across the elevated area, the very first Pink Coin can be found, and can be obtained via wall jump. After a long drop, the player can enter the Warp Pipe to the next area. A trampoline immediately follows. Upon crossing another Goomba followed by another Piranha Plant, the player will reach another trampoline and two opposite walls to wall jump off of. An opening is present to the right; however, the player must continue to wall jump up the shaft to reach a higher platform on the right in order to obtain the second Pink Coin. After a small drop, the player will enter another short warp pipe to a downwards slope with eight Goombas. However, just before reaching the last two Goombas, the player must jump to reach another elevated platform containing a ? Block with a Super Star. The third Pink Coin is immediately afterwards, in the center of a field of coins above a Goomba. Upon dropping from the elevated platform, the player will enter yet another warp pipe, leading to an area with two trampolines. A large drop follows, along with another downwards slope with two Goombas below. The player must jump before reaching the bottom of the slope, and wall jump up the opening to reach the fourth Pink Coin. The player then enters a fourth warp pipe, and reaches an area with more warp pipes, some containing Piranha Plants. Immediately afterward, the fifth and final Pink Coin can be seen at an opening with two Piranha Plants, and it can be collected via wall jumping. The player will then pass an arrow block pointing ↘ in order to avoid a Piranha Plant, then continue running across the section until they see a large drop with a pair of trampolines below. The player must use the trampolines to reach a fifth warp pipe which takes them back out into the opening. After avoiding two Goombas and wall jumping onto the two platforms above, the player will reach the Goal Pole.

Purple Coins[edit]

The level starts with a Super Mushroom and two walls for which to wall jump off of. Immediately upon approaching the first Goomba, the player can wall jump up a hard-to-miss opening containing forty coins. Upon traveling across the elevated area, the very first Purple Coin can be obtained by hitting the ? Block. After a long drop, the player can enter the Warp Pipe to the next area. A trampoline immediately follows. Upon crossing another Goomba followed by another Piranha Plant, the player will reach another trampoline and two opposite walls to wall jump off of. An opening is present to the right; however, the player must continue to wall jump up the shaft to reach a higher platform on the right and immediately jump onto the Brick Blocks in order to obtain the second Purple Coin. After a small drop, the player will enter another short warp pipe to a downwards slope with eight Goombas. At the bottom of the slope lies the third Purple Coin which is guarded by a Piranha Plant. In order to get at it, the player needs to time their jumps effectively. After passing a ↘ Arrow Block, the player will enter yet another warp pipe, leading to an area with two trampolines. A large drop follows, along with another downwards slope with two Goombas below. The player must jump before reaching the bottom of the slope, and wall jump up the opening marked by two ↓ arrow blocks to reach the fourth Purple Coin. The player then enters a fourth warp pipe, and reaches an area with more warp pipes, some containing Piranha Plants. Almost immediately afterward, the fifth and final Purple Coin can be seen by a set of coins atop the middle-level platform, and the player must wall jump to reach the platform and collect it. They must then continue running across the section until they see a large drop with a pair of trampolines below. The player must use the trampolines to reach a fifth warp pipe which takes them back out into the opening. After avoiding two Goombas and wall jumping onto the two platforms above, the player will reach the Goal Pole.

Black Coins[edit]

The level starts with a Super Mushroom and two walls for which to wall jump off of. Immediately upon approaching the first Goomba, the player can wall jump up a hard-to-miss opening containing forty coins. Upon wall jumping, the first Black Coin can be seen suspended in midair, and must be collected via a tricky wall jump. After a long drop, the player can enter the warp pipe to the next area. A trampoline immediately follows. Upon crossing another Goomba followed by another Piranha Plant, the player will reach another trampoline and two opposite walls to wall jump off of. An opening is present to the right; however, the player must continue to wall jump up the shaft to reach a platform to the left, and hit the ? Block to obtain the second Black Coin. After a small drop, the player will enter another short warp pipe to a downwards slope with eight Goombas. However, just before reaching the last two Goombas, the player must jump to reach another elevated platform and follow it to the end. Here, the player must time their jump to reach the third Black Coin, positioned against the wall on the right; they may wall jump off the wall to start over. Upon dropping from the elevated platform, the player will enter yet another warp pipe, leading to an area with two trampolines. The ? Block above the trampolines contains the fourth Black Coin, and can be reached by well-timed wall jumps. A large drop follows, along with another downwards slope with two Goombas below. The player then enters a fourth warp pipe, and reaches an area with more warp pipes, some containing Piranha Plants. Immediately afterward, the fifth and final Black Coin can be seen at an opening with two Piranha Plants, and it can be collected via wall jumping; however, the player must be careful to wall jump after collecting the Black Coin to avoid touching the left Piranha Plant. The player must then follow the platform to a ↗ arrow block and jump to reach a fifth warp pipe which takes them back out into the opening. After avoiding two Goombas and wall jumping onto the two platforms above, the player will reach the Goal Pole.
