:Yeah, I'm not sure if this article should be kept, nor even any of the other Thwomp variants that only appear in the Zelda games for that matter. Not sure if there are any plans for a BowWow article for one thing. {{User:Swallow/sig}} 20:23, February 5, 2023 (EST)

Thwomp[edit]

Where is the alleged relation to Thwomps sourced from? The Player's Guide (archive.org) doesn't state it; Stone Elevator's similarity to a Thwomp in both appearance and behavior is very loose (it's a stony platform that moves up and down, and not really by its volition); and Mega Thwomp, which Stone Elevator seems to derive its Japanese name from (Doshin -> Oshin), itself is only indulgently described by said guide as being related to the Mario Thwomp (Dossun in Japanese). In short, it's an ill-defined derivative of yet another derivative of an enemy that originates from a different franchise. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 20:13, February 5, 2023 (EST)

Yeah, I'm not sure if this article should be kept, nor even any of the other Thwomp variants that only appear in the Zelda games for that matter. Not sure if there are any plans for a BowWow article for one thing. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 20:23, February 5, 2023 (EST)
The other Thwomps are fair game per MarioWiki:Coverage#Guest appearances: "if a subject is unique to the game while also being clearly derived from the Mario franchise, they can receive individual articles." My issue is with this particular enemy, who only seems to be related to Thwomps because fan wikis draw connections that don't exist. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 20:29, February 5, 2023 (EST)
A raw sprite of a Stone Elevator from The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures A Thwomp in The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.
In FSA, it's more apparent, as it's the only Thwomp derivative among near-identical normal Thwomps. As for BowWow, it's just WanWan/Chain Chomp. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:33, February 5, 2023 (EST)
The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia doesn't directly call them Thwomps, but it says "See also Thwomp" at the end of the Stone Elevator's entry (p. 207). I think it's safe to say that these are Thwomps after all. Axis (talk) 12:08, July 1, 2024 (EDT)
