Painted Swampland, or Soda Jungle-4, is the fourth course of Soda Jungle in New Super Mario Bros. U. It is located in the haunted sub-area of Soda Jungle. Most notably, this course is an outdoor ghost course with the design and art style inspired by Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night.
Completing the course normally makes a path that leads back to the first point after Which-Way Labyrinth, but completing the level with its secret exit reveals the true path through Soda Jungle, leading to a section with Boo Enemy Courses and a Red Toad House, followed by Seesaw Bridge and Wiggler Stampede.
Layout[edit]
The level begins on a platform with a Boo nearby, with poison filling the bottom of the area. A ? Block containing a power-up is found, along with Warp Pipes that act as platforms in the poison. The third Warp Pipe sinks when it is stepped on. Some more Boos are found, along with Warp Pipes of various colors, some of which sink when stepped on. There is a Brick Block holding a Super Star here. A section of the ground with a ? Block containing a power-up is found, and is followed by a section with more Warp Pipes acting as platforms. Piranha Plants can be found in yellow Warp Pipes. The Checkpoint Flag is then found, with a ? Block containing a 1-Up Mushroom hidden in a wall. A section of blue Warp Pipes with Circling Boo Buddies is then found. Underneath an Arrow Sign pointing downwards is a secret area blocked by Brick Blocks, which leads to a ? Block holding a Super Acorn. A Red Ring is found above some red Warp Pipes, and a few more Warp Pipes are found leading to the Goal Pole. In the background around the end of the level, an image of Bowser with no pupils is present.
