:::Later games ''did'' include Bob-ombs using these guys' basic behavior, though. :::::This is just speculation, but I wonder if this wasn't intended to be another case of renaming Bob-ombs for no reason when moving them to a new franchise, like the rename from "Bob" to "Bomb-hei". In any case, I also support the merge+redirect. [[User:Blinker|Blinker]] ([[User talk:Blinker|talk]]) 14:27, July 20, 2024 (EDT) |

Falls within the scope our coverage?
As far as I can tell, there is nothing that directly states or implies that Bombites are based on/derived from Bob-ombs. Not Nintendo Power, not the Player's Guide, not The Legend of Zelda: Encyclopedia, not The Great Hyrule Encyclopedia, not the instruction manuals. It seems the wiki just assumes the connection exists based on the enemy's design. Axis (talk) 14:37, July 19, 2024 (EDT)
- To be honest, it's kinda weird that this article exists here anyway. It's a Zelda creature that basically never appeared in a single Mario title, and the only justification for why it gets to stay is... it only appears in Link's Awakening (which we allow an article here since it's regarded as a guest appearance, as it's riddled with actual Mario series cameos), and it kind of resembles a Bob-omb. But that makes one question why Tarin doesn't have an article, since he similarly resembles Mario.
The whole thing reminds me of the Togezo being covered on our Spiny article as if it's the same thing too, which I honestly find to be a stretch (though Doc at least gave some justification here). rend (talk) (edits) 16:07, July 19, 2024 (EDT)- Given all the Mario characters and enemies in Link's Awakening, it's frankly puzzling that Nintendo made these store brand knockoffs in the first place instead of just putting actual Bob-ombs in the game. Either way, this article is unnecessary. It's a Zelda enemy, not a Mario enemy. Their blatant resemblance to Bob-ombs doesn't change that. If they appeared in an actual Mario game, that would justify having an article on them, but they don't. It warrants a mention in Bob-omb's "other appearances" section, and that's it. 12:47, July 20, 2024 (EDT)
