The Hall of Hieroglyphs is the first level of Wario Land 4, as well as the first level of the Entry Passage. The whole level is basically a tutorial, teaching the player how to properly control Wario and master his moves. The level has various pictures (or "hieroglyphs") of the shop owner on the walls teaching Wario what he needs to do across the level. For example, there are some parts in which he will have to perform his Dash Attack, and other parts where he needs to throw a rock to break some brown blocks. At the end of the level, Wario must hit the switch to open up the vortex which brings Wario back to the Pyramid. This stage, along with the Golden Passage, does not have a CD to collect. In S-Hard mode, the switch is near the beginning of the level.
The time given to escape the level after hitting the switch varies between game modes, including 1:00 in Normal mode, 0:15 in Hard, and 2:30 in S-Hard, but with the switch located near the start of the level.
