<< Directory of missions >>

Seek the 8 Red Coins is the fourth mission of Big Boo's Haunt in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. The objective is to collect the eight Red Coins scattered throughout the haunted house.

Layout

The player has to find the eight Red Coins in the course's haunted house. None of the Red Coins are located outside the house or in the merry-go-round area. The only difference of this mission between the two versions of the game is one of the Red Coins' positions has changed. The locations of the Red Coins are:

  • Behind the Mad Piano, in the first room to the left on the first floor.
  • In the second room to the left on the first floor. Two appear in this room: One is on top of each bookcase.
  • On a platform through the door to the far right on the first floor.
  • In the first left room on the second floor, across the room.
  • In the first right room on the second floor, under a casket.
  • In the first right room on the second floor, under another casket in the N64 version.
  • Across the tilting platform in the far right room on the second floor.
  • Floating near the ceiling of the lobby in the DS version, replacing the coin under the second casket in the original version. Mario's Power Flower ability or Luigi's Backward Somersault or scuttle is needed to collect it, but Wario and the others can also triple-jump to collect it.

Once the player has collected all the Red Coins, the Power Star appears at the Star Marker on the second floor of the house.
