“Uh-oh, Baby Weegie time!”
Baby Luigi, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Baby Luigi is a baby who is Baby Mario's brother. Although he is the baby version of Luigi, he has appeared in games like Mario Kart: Double Dash!! alongside his older self. Like his older self, Baby Luigi is voiced by Charles Martinet.

History

Kamek at Bay

Baby Luigi, being kidnapped by Toadies.

He first appears with his twin during the events of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, when he and the stork carrying him were captured and held by the evil Magikoopa, Kamek. Fortunately, they were rescued by Baby Mario (who had escaped abduction) and the heroic Yoshis.

Tap! Tap! Weegie Lifts

In the Nintendo DS game, Yoshi Touch & Go, Baby Luigi was kidnapped again by Kamek's Toadies, thus setting the stage for the game, as Yoshi must fling eggs at the evil Koopas to rescue the poor infant. Also, when playing the Multiplayer mode, the second player's Yoshi will be toting Baby Luigi.

Dual Baby

Baby Luigi is one of the kidnapped babies in Yoshi's Island DS by Bowser and Kamek. Yoshi, Baby Mario and the other babies saved Baby Luigi from Bowser and Baby Mario and Baby Luigi returned home.

Weegie Time

Baby Luigi, along with his brother Baby Mario and the two older Mario Bros., all have starring roles in the Nintendo DS Mario RPG Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. In battle, his abilities are, for the most part, identical to Baby Mario, as neither has any ability that sets the other apart. The co-existence of the infant and adult Mario Bros. is explained by the fact that they are sent back in time to rescue Princess Peach after a time-travel experiment goes completely awry. After discovering that an evil alien species, the Shroobs, have taken over the Mushroom Kingdom of the past and are holding Peach hostage, the heroic Bro. of past and present must battle the entire extraterrestrial entity, eventually combating their leader, Princess Shroob. In one part of the game, it is seen that Baby Luigi was crying because of the Cobalt Star. Some players guessed that Baby Luigi actually knew that the Elder Princess Shroob was in the Cobalt Star.

Spinoffs

Baby A-Go-Go

Baby Luigi rides along with Baby Mario in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! in the Goo Goo and Rattle Buggies, their special item being a Chain-Chomp. Baby Luigi later returns to the Mario Kart series as an unlockable character in Mario Kart Wii.

  • Bio: This is Baby Luigi's debut appearance, and he's out to prove something. He's a great compliment to any driver, thanks to his ability to claim the Chain Chomp!

Baby at Bat

Along with Baby Mario, Baby Luigi appears in Mario Superstar Baseball. He's along the side of Yoshi in story mode and is one of the eight speed characters. He is very good at stealing bases, fielding, and even going the wall jump to catch a homerun before it is a homerun. He also apears in Mario Super Sluggers.

Buddies
Bio

"The younger of the Baby Mario Brothers. After being abducted by Kamek, he was rescued by Yoshi and Baby Mario. If you see him and Luigi in the same game, try to ignore the temporal paradox. Baby Luigi is quick around the bases but he doesn't hit for power. He is, after all, a baby."

Personality

Baby Luigi, like his older self, is described as being meek and cowardly (perhaps caused from the trauma of being abducted by Kamek). For the most part he is very friendly too, as he gets along great with the other Babies. His timid nature is also evidenced in the Mario Kart Wii official guide, which states that he used to ride with Baby Daisy until her bold and boisterous personality scared him.

Although Baby Luigi is an extreme crybaby, he seems to actually be less cowardly than his older self.

Appearances in Other Media

Baby Mario Bros.

Baby Mario appeared in an episode of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, Toddler Terrors of Time Travel. In this episode, King Koopa and Kooky von Koopa attempted to use Kooky's Time Travel Tube to go back in time to Brooklyn and stop the Mario Bros. from getting transported to the Mushroom Kingdom via going through a Warp Pipe disguised as a bathtub they were fixing. The current day Mario Bros. attempt to stop them, by following Koopa and Kooky through time. However, due to a glitch in the Time Travel Tube, everyone on board is turned to babies. Baby Toad however manages to retrieve the Tube after it is fixed and turn himself and the Mario Bros. back to normal. The Mario Bros. and Toad later stop King Koopa's scheme.
