World 6-1 is the first level of Ice Land in Super Mario Bros. 3. It is playable after completing World 5-Airship. Completing this level gives access to World 6-2 and World 6-3.
Layout
Mario begins the level on a snowy platform with a series of Ice Blocks above him. These Ice Blocks are interrupted by a one-block gap, but continue after that. Above the final Ice Block is a ? Block being bordered by two standard Brick Blocks to its left. This ? Block produces either a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower when hit. Below the Ice Blocks is a Ptooie sticking out of a Warp Pipe while blowing a spiked ball. Mario must clear the Ptooie with a jump or a fireball. Mario finds himself on another snowy platform with a Ptooie walking back and forth. There is a Warp Pipe containing a Piranha Plant to the right of this Ptooie. Above this snowy platform surrounded by the level's first two Warp Pipes is a Warp Door resting on a platform of Wood Blocks. Mario can only find this door if he has a Super Leaf, Tanooki Suit, or a P-Wing. This door leads to a secret area covered in Ice Blocks. The exit door is on the other side, but there are Brick Blacks completely covering the pathway. There is a platform of Ice Blocks above that lead to a Switch Block, creating a passage to the exit door. The exit door drops Mario from the sky back to the snowy ground below the entrance door. To the right of the Warp Pipe is a ? Block that produces a coin and two one-block gaps in the ground. Had Mario began the level as Invincible Mario, this ? Block would have produced a Starman if he hit it while still invincible. After these gaps, Mario encounters a Venus Fire Trap in another Warp Pipe. Past this Venus Fire Trap is another Ptooie walking on a snowy platform. There is another Warp Pipe at the end of this platform with another ? Block next to it that produces a coin (or Starman if Mario is invincible) when he hits it. To the right of this Warp Pipe is a series of Ice Blocks serving as a platform for the ? Block above. This ? Block produces either a Super Mushroom or a Super Leaf. The Ice Blocks continue with a few gaps to give Mario a pathway to avoid the two Ptooies and red Para-Goomba below. Past them is a Ptooie in a pipe in front of a short gap, after which is the goal.
