Mega Goomba's Bad Dream is a mid-minigame in Mario Party: Star Rush because players do not try to defeat Mega Goomba.

Intro

A Mega Goomba is sleeping next to a tree. The camera pans out to a box as apples fall in front of the Mega Goomba.

Gameplay

Each player is carrying a basket and has to steal the apples from the Mega Goomba while he is sleeping. The player can carry up to 3 apples at a time and the more apples they carry, the slower they get. After collecting the apples, they have to bring it to the giant box at the end. Smaller Goombas also appear. There are three of them walking on trail marks on the ground and one that chases after players. After 25 apples are in the box, Mega Goomba wakes up and begins to attack. When the players go to pick up apples, the Mega Goomba will then lunge towards them, taking off a point if it connects. On the way back, there are more roaming Goombas, along with the Goombas on the trail marks moving faster. Hitting any of the Goombas on the road will also take away a point. The boss fight ends after 50 apples are put in the giant box. In Balloon Bash, only the first 25 apples need to be put in the giant box. After the 25th apple is collected and put in the giant box in Balloon Bash, the fight ends.

Ending

In most modes, after the 50th apple is in the box, a shiny butterfly appears near the Mega Goomba and flies away, and the Mega Goomba goes after it. In Toad Scramble, a Star appears from behind the tree. Since the game ends after 25 apples in Balloon Bash, the game goes straight to the results screen.
