Super Mario
Super Mario turning back to Small Mario.

Small Mario, also known as Standard Mario and Mario is Mario's weakest form. He doesn't have any special abilites, and it also does not take any Power-Ups to assume this form. Instead, Mario immediately turns into Small Mario when being hit by an enemy. Small Mario, as his name implies, is also the smallest form of Mario's; his actual size depends on the game. Usually, before being able to assume even stronger forms, Small Mario first must become Super Mario by eating a Super Mushroom. There are exceptions, however, such as the green ! Blocks in Super Mario World.

In the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, along with the other cartoons after it, there was no Small Mario. Regular Mario was Mario's weakest form. In Super Mario Bros Super Show, Super Mario was actually Fire Mario. In Super Mario Bros. 3, Mario still receive the Fire Flower, but also receive the Racoon feather and Frog Suit. In Super Mario World, Mario would sometimes use Fire Flower, but would oftenly use the Super Feather as his Super Power. In Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros 3, if Mario gets a Fire Flower out of a box, but then collides with an enemy, the Fire Flower will only turn him into Super Mario.
