Follow That Shell!, or Superstar Road-9, is the ninth and final course of Superstar Road in New Super Mario Bros. U and the last one overall in the game. It is unlocked when the player collects every previously obtainable Star Coin in Superstar Road.
Layout
The course is based off of the sky levels from many worlds. Throughout the level, Koopa Troopa shells can be thrown to defeat enemies and break blocks, allowing the player to progress and collect Star Coins. A Koopa Troopa is found at the beginning of the level, as well as some Goombas and a structure of Brick Blocks. Another Koopa Troopa is found, along with a series of Goombas and Koopa Troopas on platforms. Another Koopa Troopa appears in the next section, where Hidden Coins and a Brick Block containing a 1-Up Mushroom are found. The Koopa Troopa's shell can travel through a section with Brick Blocks and slopes, where Koopa Troopas and Goombas are found. A Bouncy Cloud is found, followed by a slope with Goombas on it. A structure of Brick Blocks is then found, and the Goal Pole is located after it.
Star Coins
- Star Coin 1 (pictured): When the stage begins, the player needs to throw the nearby Koopa into a cluster of Brick Blocks so the path to the Star Coin can be revealed.
- Star Coin 2: Near the end of the stage, the player needs to throw a shell on to the brick platform. Mario can use a P Switch before the shell reaches the point where the Star Coin can be collected by the shell.
- Star Coin 3: Directly after the second Star Coin, the player needs to hit a block right below the final Star Coin. The block will release a beanstalk which will take the player to the coin.
