In Super Mario Kart, it appears as unlockable when winning all three cups in 100cc and in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, it appears as an unlockable when winning the Star Cup in 100cc. Special Cup consists of the longest and hardest courses, specially by having a Rainbow Road as the last racecourse. Most of the courses in this cup usually consist of courses that are better suited for Mario Kart veterans. The emblem of the Special Cup is currently a crown. However, in Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart Super Circuit was represented by the the letter "S", the initial of "special". In Super Mario Kart it was the representation of the three emblems of the Mushroom Cup, Flower Cup and Star Cup.
