Important
Hey Walkazo, theres a problem with two images: File:Star bit shooter planet.jpg and File:Dual planets.jpg. The file history shows the wrong version and thats what shows up when the images are imbedded on a page. Could you help? General bob-omb
- Can you be more specific about what's the "wrong" version? Do you want the versions uploaded today to be the ones that show up on the pages? Because when I checked them just now, the May 21 images are the ones that are embedded. You could be experiencing the problem discussed here (the Internet browser is remembering the old image, even though it's been replaced). Older versions always show up in the file histories: the top one is the current one, and as long as the image you want is the top one, everything's fine, even if the image itself looks wrong for you for a little while. - Walkazo 15:09, 21 May 2011 (EDT)
Grammar (Mario article)
I was not aware that that particular style was characteristic of British grammar. Thanks for the clarification. Mario4Ever (talk)
Super Mario 3D
Can you look at the trailer for Super Mario 3D? In the beginning, Mario attacks Goombas, but they break apart and don't move. There are like cardboard. Should that be mentioned in the article? DKPetey99TCE 13:56, 7 June 2011 (EDT)
- The cutouts should be mentioned, but they're more like obstacles than actual enemies; maybe they could go in "Confirmed Features". - Walkazo 14:01, 7 June 2011 (EDT)
- They actually remind me of Handfake, which is an enemy. DKPetey99TCE 14:04, 7 June 2011 (EDT)
- But the Handfakes actually attack Mario and Luigi and are present in battles; these things were just blocking Mario's path and got smashed like blocks. Unless more info is revealed to the contrary, I'd say they're Items for now. - Walkazo 14:07, 7 June 2011 (EDT)

Question
there was a proposal here 1 that was mislabeled i think was mislabeled a NO Quorum and the proposer is currently banned my question is, if the proposal was mislabeled is it still valid Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
- If a proposal is mistakenly labelled as "No quorum" or passes/fails when it really should be extended, the mistake should be undone. If the proposal needs to be reopened, so be it; if it passed/failed, any changes that requires should be made. In this case, the proposal did pass (the Clear Majority three-vote margin is only needed when there are 10+ votes, and "no quorum" needs less than 3 votes: this TPP had 4 votes (but you knew that already)). However, seeing as it's a year old, making a new header in the comments saying "well, it passed, we should do something about it, okay?" would be the more decent thing to do than simply enact it right off the bat, since peoples' opinions might've changed in the meantime. Plus, someone else will have to do it, since the proposer was banned (as you pointed out), so we can't just label it as passed and wander away to let it stagnate for another year. You can bring attention to the TPP by adding it to the list of TPPs on the Proposals page, with a "Passed (belatedly)" label. - Walkazo 18:45, 7 June 2011 (EDT)

Question about tense
If there is part of an article about something that happened prior to the events of a game, would it be in the present tense or the past tense? Yoshiwaker
- Good question. The Manual of Style implies it should be present, since it just talks about fiction in general, but I looked up the proposal that created the tense rules, and right at the bottom of the Comments, it was said that past tense can be used for things that happened before the game starts. (Yeah, the proposer wasn't the one who answered my question, but he didn't contradict the other user...) Of course, looking at the comments, it seems like History sections in general were supposed to be past tense, but that's not what the MoS says. Oh, the joys of muddled policies... Anyway, long story short, use past tense for the background stuff. - Walkazo 20:02, 17 July 2011 (EDT)
well sometimes. Nintendo likes to use past tense. and then do na following events

Huge Paragoombas
I asked this question on the Huge Paragoomba talk page but since Bowser calls them Giant Land Paragoombas Shouldnt that count as the official English name? Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
- Well, if we're assuming the two appearances are the same species and assuming that "Giant Land Paragoomba" is a compound noun, and not just "Paragoomba" with an adjective to explain why they're slightly larger than average, then yes, it would be the name to use. In fact, "Huge Paragoomba" shouldn't be an option at all: it's not the Japanese name, it's a translation (if you look at everything else another language links to, you'll see they're not translated; only subjects with names that were actually Japanese transcriptions of English were given English words, rather than pure romanizations; this is touched upon in MarioWiki:Redirect). HOWEVER, there might be opposition to this. "Giant Land" is potentially confusing when you've got a species in space, and while the Japanese name indicates that Deka Patakuribō is the winged version of Grand Goomba (Deka Kuribō), the species never appeared in SMB3, just in the cartoon, which, iirc, has invented a few species in its time... Some people might prefer any English name over "Deka Patakuribō", but others might feel it is misleading, while there may be a faction that would rather see the two appearances split. Maybe a TPP would be the best way to go about straightening out the subject, seeing as there's no clear cut way to satisfy everybody. - Walkazo 13:24, 18 July 2011 (EDT)
HA GOTCHA!!!

I am obeying the rules. I'm not happy that the thanks I get for expanding the stubs is a last warning and not anything good. Please Remove the Last Warning as soon as possible.
GIVE REASON PLEASE
Walkazo, I caught you deleting my category for Reworked Games. Please provide the reason on my talkpage. This must be done, because if you don't have a reason, I will assume that what you have done is vandalism.
I also caught you deleting my category for Ported Games. Please provide the reason on my talkpage, or I will assume that what you have done is vandalism.

- Whoa you're a crat! Awesome job you deserve it! Supremo
- Thanks. I'm not sure if protecting user talk pages is the best idea, however. Sometimes, links and sigs and whatnot need to be updated, and maybe you might even want to fix something, but couldn't because it'd be admins-only. I see that the other Sysops have protected user talk pages, including your first two, but I'm not so sure about this practice... - Walkazo 20:39, 22 July 2011 (EDT)

Un-Blocked
So, Walkazo, the good news is that I've finally been unblocked. The bad news is that I am getting suspicious because Amy Winehouse, that British singer, died while I was blocked from editing the Super Mario Wiki. She was only 27, and after her autopsy the pathologists could not decide what killed her. I think she was murdered, and I fear that something to do with her death might be related to you, though I don't know if it's a co-incidence or not. Well, at least I didn't sockpuppet. The ban I was hit with wasn't infinite.
Pdjr9000 13:59, 27 July 2011 (EDT)
- Are you serious? Your block expires and the first thing you do is speculate that I contributed to the murder of a celebrity who I have never met, who resided on a continent that I have never set foot on, whose death does not affect me personally at all and who had absolutely nothing to do with either of us or our behaviour on the Super Mario Wiki? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard during my entire four years on this website. It's so ridiculous, it's not even seriously defaming or disruptive. Still, these sorts of accusations are a bad idea if you intend on sticking around the wiki: next time, whoever you're implicating might choose to take it seriously and have you blocked again. - Walkazo 14:39, 27 July 2011 (EDT)

By the way, Walkazo, I think you might find that being an admin of any sort does not put you above the rules, either. Pdjr9000 08:11, 28 July 2011 (EDT)
And, more importantly, can you be promoted to an admin even if you have been blocked? You'd better be... Pdjr9000 14:52, 28 July 2011 (EDT)
- If a user really cleans up their act and proves themselves to be a hard-working, likeable and trustworthy member of the community, it's conceivable that they can eventually live down their past indiscretions and be promoted. And yes, I do know that I am not above the rules - that's why I follow them. By the way, I noticed you conversation on Mario jc's page, and you should know that A) I'm a girl and B) you can remove the Block templates yourself once you are unblocked. - Walkazo 15:04, 28 July 2011 (EDT)

This might not be my place but his behaviour is unnaccetable over the last 12 hours he's given out 3 reminders [3], an this one [4] those resulted in him being told not to issue those type of warnings than he issues this one [5] which is not only invalid but just one of the many things he's done in stalking Supremo78 over him not finishing his story. According to the Subcon King article his name is Unknown I so shouldnt that be the name used in the article Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
- It looks like you answered that one on your own. However, the real question is whether or not the Japanese name is official, or just a translation, because if "Subcon King" comes from Sabukon kingu, the another language template should be used instead of Conjecture. - Walkazo 19:36, 28 July 2011 (EDT)

YOU'RE RETURNING TO YOUR HOUSE IN TORONTO ON MY BIRTHDAY?! (from England)
Walkazo, I think you might as well know that you're returning to Toronto (if your relatives don't live in Toronto) on 3rd August, which is my birthday. That's also the day I'm getting a 3DS. Speaking of...
I've come up with a Super Smash Bros. game for the 3DS. If you don't like blood, gore and generally strong violence, you won't like the game though. That is, if you have a 3DS, or are getting one. What do you have to say about going home when it's my birthday???

Question=
So, we aren't allowed to remove anything on our talk page that has someone else's comment(s) on it? What if you don't want a talk page? -Mariomaster228
- Talk pages aren't optional: they're an important way for people to talk to you about the wiki, and are used by administrators to dispense warnings/reminders and provide a record of any incidents a user may have been involved in. While you don't have to participate in casual conversations, it's considered very rude to remove something someone else has said to you (see MarioWiki:Courtesy for more info). - Walkazo 13:58, 24 August 2011 (EDT)
- Thanks for clearing that up. I was just wondering about page size - if it gets full, it can be hard to manage a page with 40 sections of old comments on it. -Mariomaster228
- That's when you archive your page. Simply move the content to a name like User_talk:Mariomaster228/Archive_1, and put a link to that archive at the top of your talk page, which will now be empty and ready to be filled up with new headers. You can also look at what other users have done if you're still unsure about how to archive. Archiving conversations is not the same as deleting them, since everything's still on the wiki, accessible by everyone. - Walkazo 14:23, 24 August 2011 (EDT)

Random question time!
Hey there, Walkazo.
I was just wondering one thing: if I'd like to have a vote about a trivia-section on a talk page, is that considered noteworthy enough to be a TPP? RandomYoshi( • PMs • ) 13:21, 26 September 2011 (EDT)
- While I've seen Trivia votes in the past (i.e. people vote on which points should be kept or removed), I don't think it's a good way to go about stuff: a casual discussion is generally fine for that as long as it's organized. It definitely shouldn't get a TPP: those are for splits, merges and possibly large overhauls or reorganizations; changing around a single section shouldn't be shoehorned into the system (plus, no TPP means you're not stuck waiting two weeks even if a consensus is clear immediately). - Walkazo 18:00, 26 September 2011 (EDT)
Reply to your summary on The Big Boo (boss) "redirect"
The redirect's already broken before, that's why Raven Effect put the deletion template, so after it's deleted, the actual article could be moved to that name. There are some agreements about the move here Mario JC
- No, being broken means that it no longer works as a redirect - it has nothing to do with the circumstances or which namespace the page should go on. But I agree that the lowercase is the better name and am planning to move the page there: I just couldn't do it last night because I was on my way offline when I stumbled upon it, and was too tired to deal with the whole mess at that moment. I'll reorganize it all tonight after I finish my homework; in the meantime, the redirect stays functional (so all the links to it aren't screwed up). - Walkazo 22:05, 29 September 2011 (EDT)

Category move
Please move to . 64Fan (Discussion)
- You don't move categories, you replace them. One has to go around and replace all the instances of Category:Earthbound Series with Category:EarthBound Series (after creating the corresponding category page, of course), and once the old category isn't being used anymore, it can be tagged for deletion. - Walkazo 21:55, 5 October 2011 (EDT)

- The to be deleted category is backlogged, can you empty it?
- Why doesn't MarioWiki have AWB?

- The admins have been slowly working on the backlog whenever we have a few spare moments. And, AWB as in AutoWikiBrowser? It seems like an unnecessary extra: the wiki works perfectly fine with plain and simple editing. - Walkazo 15:16, 16 October 2011 (EDT)

Sure
Why not? Better do it before I change my mind :P ¢oincoll€ctor
Why are the vast majority of Super Mario Wiki policy pages fully protected?
Why should only administrators edit them? I think that there are many non-admins, including myself, wishing to make legitimate edits to these pages. Seeing MarioWiki:Warning policy, the protection did not deserve to be made as no one vandalized (or made any sort of disruption) the page: vandalism can always be reverted...
Oh, and by the way, I'm new(ish) to this wiki, having been a fan of Mario for many years and being a rollbacker on Wikipedia with over 3k edits there. Pardon me for my mistakes, because I do not know that Super Mario Wiki policies are different from Wikipedia.
Best regards, Bryce Wilson | talk 09:21, 25 October 2011 (EDT)
- It's a preventative measure: bad edits can always be undone, but if we have the means to ensure they never happen on our core policy pages, why shouldn't we take it? Users can always make suggestions on the policy talk pages and create Proposals for major changes, but the final go-ahead lies with the admins anyway, so making them the only ones who can edit core policy pages doesn't hamper anything. - Walkazo 09:57, 25 October 2011 (EDT)

A long time ago, you deleted User:Super Mario Skywalker for "sockpuppeting". I should've never gotten deleted, for it was a mistake. You specifically said on my block log that I sockpuppetted. I request that I be restored; for I can be of usefulness for I was the one who created the Image:Nonstopper NSMB.gif image and introduced gickr.com to the wiki.

It's most likely time to delete some files
There are 26 files pending deletion. Those files can't just sit around, so please delete some of them.Mr Man 10:12, 27 October 2011 (EDT)
- The admins delete files whenever we can, but we have to make sure files weren't tagged for deletion incorrectly and check to see if files can be used, rather than deleted, which makes the process slow and tedious at times. In the meantime, a backlog doesn't hurt the wiki in any way, and telling admins how to do our jobs is completely unnecessary, not to mention rude (see the Courtesy policy - second-last item on the list). - Walkazo 11:05, 27 October 2011 (EDT)
My Story Corner
Walkazo, can you help me with my story corner? I just got a message from Mario4Ever saying that he'll delete them if they're not moved in a few days. I don't want to lose all my data. What should I do? None of my stories contain subpages, and when he asked me to move them (Even though they do not contain subpages}}, I was thinking; "What does that have to do with my stories"? Any advice before I lose all my data? Super Chris Helper
Fine, I'll do it. Just leave me alone... Super Chris Helper
He showed me this page. Super Chris Helper
You know what? I'm leaving the wiki AND I'm taking my stuff with me! There are OTHER userpages that contain junk like that! Super Chris Helper
Look, what I'm saying is that I do not want to "clutter up my userpage". Super Chris Helper
Fine! I'll put it on my userpage! Note: Besides this wiki, there are also other wikis that you mentioned that allows free subpages. Look at |this for example. Super Chris Helper
Look, if you want me to put my story on my useroage, I'll do it. But to me, it sounds like you're running me off the wiki instead of helping me make me stay. Super Chris Helper
You're going to have to wait on the confirmations because I've been busy with schoolwork recently. Super Chris Helper
Again, I'll have to copy it over later today. I'm doing homework right now. Super Chris Helper
I decided that I want the pages to be deleted. Thank you for your time. Plus, I also deleted the link to my "special" talk page. Super Chris Helper
I asked Lindsay151 to delete those for me so you wouldn't have to when you logged back on. Super Chris Helper
Re:Unused images
Oh, sorry Walkazo, I hadn't realized what I'd done. Next time, I'll be more careful. (By the way, some of the replaced ones I don't know which files replaced them but I know that they were replaced by something.)--UM3000
Misuse of the word "song"
Hello, a professional musician with over 18 years of experience here. I have noticed recently, in articles, in the 'Shroom, and many other places, that the community tends to misuse the word 'song', calling soundtracks of some video games "songs". A 'song' is not any piece of music - it's a piece of music for singers, and thus must have words.
Therefore, the correct word for music without lyrics is either 'composition', 'work', 'piece', etc. It's perfectly fine to call a piece of music WITH words a 'song' - however, any piece of music without lyrics is simply not a song.
Thanks! --B.wilson talk 01:51, 3 November 2011 (EDT)
- Lots of places use "song" loosely; Wikipedia has the SMB theme in the Video game songs category - last I checked, it doesn't have any lyrics in any of its videogame incarnations... It doesn't help when you have things like the instrumental, yet officially-named "Ms. Mowz's Song" in Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix or the famous, wordless "Totaka's Song". If you wanna make the wiki use "song" in the strict sense (not including actual names like the two aforementioned tunes), you could always make a proposal about it. Or go around fixing pages on your own and quote the dictionary definition at people who question you - that should be enough of an argument for it. - Walkazo 19:10, 3 November 2011 (EDT)

- What? Wikipedia says video game songs when they're not songs? Incredible! Must bring it up there. --Bryce talk contributions 10:08, 4 November 2011 (EDT)

Duplicate "Chocolate Cake" image hanging on the loose!
Hello Walkazo, can you please replace File:Chococake.gif with File:Chococakester.PNG from three pages that have that particular image (User:BigBeetle94, User:NessandLuigi469, and User talk:Xzelion/Archive 32)? There's a duplicate and I don't have the powers edit the userpages anymore. After that, please delete the former image. --RAP... 22:38, 5 November 2011 (EDT)
- Hey, long time no see. Anyway, I just deleted the image: it doesn't matter if users still have them in use - if they're still around and care about it, they can just find an updated image. As long as the mainspace (and other functional aspects of the wiki) are updated, that's what's important. - Walkazo 22:46, 5 November 2011 (EDT)
- ...and I suffered an edit conflict bump; thanks a lot. XD I was here at another time, working on Merchandise on adding more entries - you should've saw my activity there! Anyway, Just a curious question, how come I'm seeing the words "minigames" all over the wiki instead of "mini-games"? I remember the latter existing before. Was there a proposal that was involved in this? --RAP... 22:49, 5 November 2011 (EDT)
- Oh yeah, I remember that... Yeah, the admins all decided that the less hyphens, the better, so I made a proposal about it back in late September - but then school and life got really crazy and I'm only now getting around to enacting the changes... - Walkazo 22:56, 5 November 2011 (EDT)
- And my proposal archive idea still hasn't been enacted for...a year or two? Mmm, can you do me a favor and directly contact Knife (talk) that he and I need to resume working on the proposal archive idea? I've been actually waiting for his actions to respond...and I don't know what happened then, I actually forgot ever since. For the "minigame" rewording - I would contribute, but my need to work on licensing images is much more faster to me - and that I have too many contribution points; someone else should get them (even if it is tedious). --RAP... 23:19, 5 November 2011 (EDT)
- Knife actually mentioned the archiving thing on the admin board a couple days ago. I'll try to remember to pass along the message that you haven't forgotten about it either (my memory is crappy, but hopefully this won't leak out). As for the "minigame' stuff, don't worry: I actually really like this sorta work, and have much more fun doing it myself at a nice leisurely pace (I just wish it wasn't so leisurely, but that's school and homework for ya). - Walkazo 23:27, 5 November 2011 (EDT)

Luigi series
I've been thinking for a long time. Maybe it's true that a game such as Mario is Missing! is not part of the Luigi series but, would it be possible to remake the Luigi series with Luigi's Mansion games except Mario is Missing?--Prince Ludwig 13:08, 6 November 2011 (EST)
- Series should have three entries before they get their own series page. Besides, if anything, it'd be the Luigi's Mansion series, since just calling it the Luigi series ignores the fact that there's only LM games involved (whereas, for example, the Wario series has Wario Land, WarioWare and miscellaneous "Wario" titles to its name). A series page of two would just be a glorified disambiguation page, and two-entry series categories and templates would also be a waste; it's better to group them informally for now. - Walkazo 20:27, 6 November 2011 (EST)
- Because there's currently Luigi's Mansion games that has a Luigi as their main antagonist, that we are supposed to call it Luigi's Mansion series? I see. So, the series should need at least three titles, until there's another Luigi's Mansion title after Luigi's Mansion 2, there should not be an article of it...But if there's a different Luigi title of Luigi being its main protagonist, its star, where he can have a great role like he did in Luigi's Mansion series or much bigger and better, can we maybe call it the Luigi series?--Prince Ludwig 20:34, 6 November 2011 (EST)
- If it's apparent that Nintendo's spinning Luigi off into his own series of games with multiple Luigi titles beyond the LM titles, we'd have more grounds to make an overall Luigi grouping. I doubt it'll happen, however, seeing as Luigi's an integral part of the Mario series: even his two LM games still involve Mario, unlike Wario, DK and Yoshi who go off and do their own thing entirely (although most Yoshi games involve Baby Mario, it's not the same thing: he's more of a prop than a protagonist). - Walkazo 21:09, 6 November 2011 (EST)
