:Perhaps, but ''Castlevania'' was intended to be a Universal parody before later going in a more Gothic direction (hence anachronistic elements that became staples like Frankenstein's monster), which is why the early games sometimes had a film reel feel as if they were a classic Hollywood movie (I wonder if that in any way inspired SMB3's theatre aesthetic come think of it). With the actual era they were going for, anglicization of names in ways such as removing accents was more common, and I do seem to recall a particular copy of the ''Dracula'' novel writing it as "Tepes" in an added forward.<br>As for your other point, I think it may be worth a bigger discussion over at MarioWiki talk:Naming (and I can think of at least two others off the top of my head: [[The Vinery]] and [[The Trial Course]]). Honestly, my gut feeling is to treat it case-by-case like the page determined we currently do with internal names; for example, the Japanese game ''Super Mario Bros. Special'' would be considered English enough since it is rendered as such on the box cover and title screen, but most of the enemy cast listed in the ending would be considered Japanese due to being direct romanizations that tend to read nonsensically in English. Re:Room 1-5+
The article looks fine to me, it's similar to how I wrote the Mario vs. Donkey Kong levels. Level articles are a strange case on the wiki, they're the exception to the "no strategy" rule. Though you could also just point out the objective and call it good, but that's boring :P I think how it is now is good, and you've been doing a great job with these :) 11:03, 8 February 2019 (EST)
- You're welcome, and I'm sure they would! Though most people who visit this site aren't usually expecting walkthroughs, they're good to have for those that are. I prefer text guides/player's guides to video walkthroughs myself. Easier to just pick up where you left off and you can progress at your own pace. 11:35, 8 February 2019 (EST)

Re:Conjecture
Joke edits (possibly outside April Fools' Day) are still, by definition, vandalism. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:04, 22 February 2019 (EST)
- Well, you took too long. And that's still not really acceptable, even as a joke. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:16, 22 February 2019 (EST)
- One last thing: I actually did wait to see if you'd revert it. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:27, 22 February 2019 (EST)
- It was a simple joke at Bye Guy's own expense that was meant to be quickly reverted and didn't actually do any major damage to the article (such as blanking or inappropriateness). I'm not regarding this as vandalism, but that said, joke edits should stay off of the mainspace articles. 19:34, 22 February 2019 (EST)
- Alright, understood. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 19:38, 22 February 2019 (EST)
- Look, I'm not trying to throw you under the bus or anything here, you seem to be interpreting my tone as being much harsher than it is intended to be communicated as. I personally don't see it as vandalism, but from a most literal perspective, it technically is, and want to caution you against that sort of thing lest you go down a slippery slope. I can't extract the Tipping Stars backgrounds as they have multiple layers. But the game itself does have some small prerenders of the backgrounds, so here are those in PNG format. --Hiccup (talk) 09:24, 26 February 2019 (EST)

Personal images
Two files (File:Untitled-2.png and File:SuperRadioPic.png) are marked as your personal images, but you don't appear to be using them. Checking to see if you plan to use them or want to use them again. 13:29, April 17, 2019 (EDT)

Snowflakes
"The player" refers to how the player is playing as the characters, and it is not as fluffy as saying "the Kongs" (Saying "the Kongs" is still not that fluffy, but it is like saying something like "Mario starts on a small platform" instead of saying "the player starts on a small platform" when not on a character page where stating the character's name is nessecary) As for the last sentence, it has to be said as plainly as possible with the least amount of guide-like writing as possible. You do not even have to run to the Slot Machine Barrel anyways. Doomhiker (talk) 19:32, May 10, 2019 (EDT)
- Fair, but you have not answered about the last sentence on the page (The part about running). Doomhiker (talk) 19:47, May 10, 2019 (EDT)
- You could say "go to" instead. Doomhiker (talk) 19:58, May 10, 2019 (EDT)
- Look at the end of this video. The uploader runs, rolls, uses Dixie Kong's Helicopter Spin, jumps, and walks slowly. The current wording makes it seem like running is the only way to the goal. Doomhiker (talk) 20:07, May 10, 2019 (EDT)
- You could say "go to" instead. Doomhiker (talk) 19:58, May 10, 2019 (EDT)
Clowns "and Jesters"
I would consider "Jesters" to be within the nebulous definition of "clown," much like harlequins and mimes. Therefore, I believe it should just be moved to "Category: Clowns." Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:10, May 11, 2019 (EDT)
Your gripe about level articles on the wiki
I'm trying to figure out the message in your gripe about level articles on the wiki. Is it griping about about level articles in general, or just their quality here on the wiki? (If it's their quality on the wiki, then I agree.) Obsessive Mario Fan (talk) 11:09, May 18, 2019 (EDT)

Re:DK roll attack in Mario and Sonic London 2012 Olympic Games
Yeah, that's his Special Dash, it's a move which every character has in certain events which gives them a large but brief speed boost, but each character has a unique animation which is usually related to them (For example, Daisy's has flowers, Peach's has hearts, Bowser an Bowser Jr. spin in their shells), so it probably is a reference to the Barrel Roll. I don't believe there's an article for the Special Dash yet, but I think you should put something on the Barrel Roll page. BBQ Turtle (talk) 13:08, May 19, 2019 (EDT)
Adobe flash games
Bye guy, I found more information regarding Nintendo's flash games. 2 games in particular are both allegedly based on the original Mario party and are called wario's whack attack and Mario's memory madness. I would suggest looking at all of the YouTube videos about Nintendo's flash games including the ones posted by engadget and skelux. The latter is archiving all the games. All the Mario ones could serve as useful information for updates to this list of games. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:30, May 28, 2019 (EDT)
Looking at the website skelux is posting them all on could be helpful, too. Lord Falafel (talk) 22:37, May 28, 2019 (EDT)

Re:Woah
The ban was not drastic. It was found out, with incriminating logs, that he was recently part of a neo-nazi affiliated community on Discord, where he posted some questionable stuff. This is in addition to him, on the MarioWiki Discord, publicly posting about how he wanted 3 billion people to die to solve the world's problems, and how he wanted the coronavirus to spread and kill people. Him receiving a community-wide ban was agreed by the admins of the general community. It doesn't matter that these problems weren't brought to the wiki: the community shouldn't accept or have people like this at all. The MarioWiki community is supposed to be a safe and fun place. As long as the quiz has something Mario-related in it, how you are covering them is fine to me. If there's nothing Mario-related in the quiz, then yeah, I'd say they don't really belong. Re: Images
Yeah... Kind of a shame really. With work & Mario Wiki editors joining, WiKirby has improved and is essentially Mario Wiki's sibling at this point. That was perhaps the most notable change of a NIWA wiki in trying to get the Mario Wiki standard across. Do you have Discord? If we are to discuss, we should probably do it off the wiki. Reason I know this is because when me and some other Mario Wiki editors discussed Triforce Wiki (independent ZeldaWiki alternative), and I think the staff here, namely Alex95, wanted the discussion to take place elsewhere. RE: MKT tier proposal
Unfortunately you'd need to request the proposal to be cancelled and start a new one with the added options (you may want to let the current voters know), since six days have passed. Just let me know and I can do that. Mario JC 23:45, October 12, 2020 (EDT)
It would have been good to have the options, but personally I don't think it's worth redoing the proposal for what might not be strong enough terms to describe the tiers, for the reasons you stated. Mario JC 01:09, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
- Well, with the recent update, the driver/kart/glider summary screens now explicitly categorise them as "favourite" and "favoured", so I'm thinking they should definitely be considered. Mario JC 07:29, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
RE: Favored phrasing
I prefer the first phrasing as well, since the second can imply that the courses are the character's usual favored/favorite courses, which isn't always the case. Maybe it can be tweaked to "Courses in this cup are always treated as [character]'s favored or favorite courses." Mario JC 00:38, October 29, 2020 (EDT)

- Charming.
- Thanks for asking, it's nice that somebody remembered that. I left it unfinished, I thought I needed to experience life a little longer before I would be happy with it. I did finish a more personal one which ended up being 60,000 words, put together after interviewing a family member on their experiences in World War II. That took up much of my time in the last couple of years.

RE: Favored phrasing? (Part II)
Would "This kart increases the duration of boosts and the number of points earned from them." work? Mario JC 00:07, November 30, 2020 (EST)
- For that reason, yes. The Japanese version also differentiates them more clearly as it's just called "Jump Action" (and the speed "boost" being called "dash"). Mario JC 21:29, November 30, 2020 (EST)
Re:Course pages
Okay! From reading your comment on my talk page, I will try to use the new format as seen in your Mario Kart Tour edits for now on. I will also make some adjustments to the courses in the game later today. Silence Suzuka 16:57, December 29, 2020 (EST)
Steer Clear of Obstacles
Hey man, I was wondering if I could be able to make the Steer Clear of Obstacles bonus challenge page, since you still wanna make the one for Big Reverse Race and already made the one for Vs. Mega., if that's alright with you. Sonic Speed 48 15:51, January 7, 2021 (EST)
Big Reverse Race
Alright, what I'm thinking for on the Big Reverse Race challenge page was to list the characters you race against, alongside the karts and gliders they use. It'd be like how Vs. Mega is set up, since both let you use anyone and any kart part and have 3-Star requirements based on engine class. How does that sound? Sonic Speed 48 14:10, January 10, 2021 (EST)
Koopa's Road
Hey, since you were the one who made the music proposal a while back, I was wondering what your thoughts were on an article being made for Koopa's Road? I found 8 games that it's in with 5 different arrangements of it, so I think it fits the bill based on the original proposal, and it's certainly iconic enough.

Yello hello.
I see you have a sandbox. Why not work on the sections you want to improve there, then move them to the actual article when you're finished? This would avoid matters such as edit-warring and allow you to do everything at once. You could also work on it at any time until it's complete.
Just a suggestion or two. I'm doing this myself with Super Princess Peach. Green Star 21:09, April 16, 2021 (EDT)

Donkey Kong Shogakukan guides
Shogakukan names are 「ホルムコウル」 (Horumu Kouru, Holm Kowl) for helmed and 「シェルムコウル」 (Sherumu Kouru, Shelm Kouru) for shelled on page 14. Prima only refers to the latter as Hootz. I guess, taking a page from how the Tiki Zings are handled, they can be split as "Holm Kowl"(?) and "Hootz (shelled)"? In light of some of this info, I also suggested adding pages for Giga Goro Ball, Robobī, and Pengaccha 1-gō, and splitting up Tiki Tork, Tiki Bomber, Char-Char, and Big Sphen. They seem to have noticeable differences, though unsure about purple Skittler and damaged Stilts. LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:15, May 3, 2021 (EDT)
- Generally, we try to organize based closer on origin, but Prima's Returns enemy index isn't as comprehensive as Shogakukan's, and Prima's 3D guide is mostly a copy of the original one with near-minimal changes. In this case, I'm pro-split - see the English and Japanese names in the Tiki Zing articles for an example of how neither localization really has it 100% right. I'm mainly hesitant on Skittler because it's a color variant much Pyrobot and Stilts because the other version of it is represented on the same piece of art in the in-game gallery. The Returns coverage also has an exception for using the British English versions of the Tiki Tak Tribe members, so it's already an odd case. LinkTheLefty (talk) 20:20, May 3, 2021 (EDT)
Re: Spinning at the olympics
Yes, it does. Functionally, it appears as an attack in Dream Spacewalk, where it is definitely the Galaxy spin attack. As for the information that you removed in that edit you linked, I think it refers to Mario's special boost/dash/attack/whatever else it's called animation in some games. I think it does resemble the spin enough to say it's an aesthetic example, but if you're looking at cleaning up the article then it's probably worth you taking a look yourself. The first example that pops to mind is the Relay in 2016 Wii U, so take a look at this video here and see what you think (It's right at the start): [1]. The animation is probably used elsewhere but I can't think where that would likely be at the moment, so if you fancy looking around some more I'd recommend maybe looking for Mario event gameplay from 2010 onwards to see if you can find it there? That's all that comes to mind though, unless I'm missing something. Hope that helps! :) BBQ Turtle (talk) 18:27, August 17, 2021 (EDT)
- Looks really good! I realised afterwards that I had forgotten to mention about Luigi's special thingy as well, but you've already picked that up. I think that covers everything I can think of there at the moment, but I'll be sure to add to it if I come across anything else. :) BBQ Turtle (talk) 05:42, August 18, 2021 (EDT)
- Hi again, so I've had some proper time to look over the proposal now, though I'm a little unclear at what each of the options is getting at. I did want to share my thoughts though, as with those videos you've put together I can make some proper comparisons, and there's some things I'd like to point out. A lot of characters' special animations carry over in between games, so I think it's fair to say if Mario's is a reference in 2010, then so is the same animation in 2012, 2016 and 2020. A lot of characters' animations also reference special moves from their home series as well (DK does roll attacks, Bowser and Bowser Jr. spin in their shells, Daisy uses flowers, Yoshi Flutter Jumps, Waluigi swims through the air and I'm sure the Sonic characters have some too but I do not know them well enough to say :P), so I think if it resembles something that they'd logically do, I'd go on the side of it's a reference. I think it would be possible to say that Luigi's is also a reference- if you look at the pose he holds while doing it (note particularly the hand gesture and the way he lifts one of his legs), it very strongly resembles Galaxy's attack. Amy, on the other hand, fully spreads her fingers and keeps both legs straight throughout, as well as having her usual heart effects, so as expected that one looks like a no. So if there's an option to say Mario yes, Luigi yes, Amy no, then please point me to it and I'll be happy to support it, as I think that's my definite position on this now. BBQ Turtle (talk) 16:41, August 26, 2021 (EDT)
- No need to apologise, it's not a problem. :) But yeah, I don't think it's an issue at the moment, I reckon the current solution's fine. We'll just have to hope that I don't dredge up any more spins that end up throwing a spanner in the works. :P BBQ Turtle (talk) 14:57, September 8, 2021 (EDT)

Link's Awakening Switch gallery
Hi I just made a gallery here earlier. The reason I told you is because of the Miscellaneous section, and I was inspired to make it because of your frequent uploads from Nintendo websites and their social media outlets. :) Is this the way that you would add such images to the Super Mario Wiki? Results May Vary (talk) 19:41, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
- Actually semi-related but I just added an image uploaded to Nintendo's Facebook in October 2014 here. I was going to ask you if it's implemented properly, as these can be hard to describe, especially on a gallery. Results May Vary (talk) 20:11, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
- The annoying thing is that Facebook tends to require login for some of their images. Really frustrating. Another thing I did just now is add another random image from Nintendo of America's Twitter and tried my best to add on both the Mario Kart 7 gallery page and the 3DS Neo Bowser City article. Again, seeing as it can be somewhat difficult to add these, I was wondering how you feel about the way I tried to implement it. Results May Vary (talk) 20:43, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
- Appreciated, thank you. When you say context, do you mean the tweet and me explaining the details of what it meant (and even the standard artwork for Mario used as a stock image within the photo)? Results May Vary (talk) 21:00, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
- Actually that's how I went about it as well -- briefly explaining the image as a caption & going more in-depth on the aboutfile. I found two more #NintendoHalloween 2014 photos that are Mario-related, and I'll be uploading the two The Legend of Zelda-related ones (ReDead and Skulltula) to Triforce Wiki. Results May Vary (talk) 21:12, August 21, 2021 (EDT)
- I'm very happy to hear that you like what I'm doing. I wasn't fully confident at first, but I'm super glad to know that I'm doing this right. :) Okay, the two The Legend of Zelda images in question have been added here and here. I added a "Facebook images" category to both images as well. Perhaps that category can be created for Mario Wiki as well? There are already three applicable ones (the Nintendo Halloween 2014 pictures of Boo, Dry Bones, and Phanto, respectively.) Furthermore, images specifically created by Nintendo and related parties for social media, let's say, if it were added to both Facebook and Twitter could fall under their respective image categories as well. Alright so I found a #NintendoTrivia question image on a Yellow Egg from Yoshi's New Island. I was wondering if it works to mention and cite the alternate formatting (which is yellow egg) into the Yellow Egg article itself. Results May Vary (talk) 09:36, August 22, 2021 (EDT)

- Yeah, although I'd prob stretch out the width of the gallery or else it would be a short column of text. Feel free to relocate it -- I actually also thought it fit more there, but a lot of the Misc captions were already short, so I was unsure. Results May Vary (talk) 15:32, August 22, 2021 (EDT)
- Just now I added something completely unique to Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze's gallery pages: a "knockout offer" for both games from Nintendo of Canada on February 26 to March 3, 2015. I was given permission to add the two, and I've provided notes on them as usual. Results May Vary (talk) 22:07, August 22, 2021 (EDT)

Nintendo Kids Club
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I've begun work on a Nintendo Kids Club article on Triforce Wiki. One particular section I wanted to highlight is the Quizzes, as there are no Mario-related quizzes on the website, so I was wondering if the section looks good to you. Update: I'm busy working on the Link's adventure quiz article as well. Results May Vary (talk) 07:32, August 23, 2021 (EDT)
- Yeah that's the thing... I'm unsure about changing the template aesthetic for Play Nintendo or creating a new one altogether, especially if it's just for one article. Embarrassingly enough, I don't know how to define a background image without using the "url" tag after background, so there's also that setback. I haven't forgotten about the right and wrong answer/responses. I was going to expand the article earlier but got caught up in other things. Hopefully today I'll add some more to it. Results May Vary (talk) 07:39, August 24, 2021 (EDT)
- Update: I have finished the Link's adventure quiz article! (Although the images next to the questions themselves are still missing) I decided to opt for standard wikitable instead. I decided to put the answers under collapsible "Answers" wikitables just in case readers want to do the quiz themselves (even if the answers are obvious). Perhaps the Play Nintendo template here can be adjusted for something similar, where you click a collapsible section to see the right and wrong answers and their corresponding comments, respectively? Results May Vary (talk) 12:43, August 24, 2021 (EDT)
- Yeah, it's the only quiz of its type, so a template will not be needed. I appreciate that you think it was creative -- is it the collapsible answers to (somewhat) recreate the basic experience of the quiz? Results May Vary (talk) 14:34, August 25, 2021 (EDT)
- I'm looking at the Read & Discover section of the Nintendo Kids Club article, and I might think about splitting into sections (seeing as there's corresponding images to the things in the bulleted list), although I'll probably do this first on Triforce Wiki so you can get an idea of what I have in mind. Results May Vary (talk) 12:53, August 26, 2021 (EDT)

Cars And Trains
Hi, I wanted to ask you something about the course elements in Mario Kart Tour. Do the cars in Berlin Byways 2 and Sydney Sprint T and the train in the Sydney Sprint courses count as course elements? WildWario (talk) 11:06, September 20, 2021 (EDT)
Thanks for your help! WildWario (talk) 20:41, September 20, 2021 (EDT)
I think its because of those hidden cars in Sydney Sprint T. I didn't even know those were there until I saw CPUs suddenly getting a second Jump Boost after the ramp. WildWario (talk) 21:17, September 20, 2021 (EDT)
I have a small update. I found out about some trucks that appeared in London Loop T, New York Minute 3T and New York Minute 3R/T. The trucks don't give out Jump Boosts but instead contained a ramp on top of them. That should probably be the reason of the wrong function in your mind. Anyways, should these be noted? I was thinking to myself earlier, "does Game Builder Garage have its own share of games acknowledged by Nintendo"? Already the aesthetic and themes remind me a lot of the two Mario Maker games. Results May Vary (talk) 19:16, October 19, 2021 (EDT)

Twitpic
Okay, so I'm going all the way back to some of Nintendo's earliest tweets. For instance, I showed tweets up to Dec 31, 2010 through advanced search (see this url: https://twitter(dot)com/search?q=(from%3ANintendoAmerica)%20until%3A2010-12-31%20mario&src=typed_query&f=top) specifically for Mario-related stuff. I noticed that Nintendo used to use twitpic(dot)com to store their images. For instance, this Super Mario All-Stars message: https://twitpic(dot)com/3e4szs (more shown in Wayback link: https://web.archive.org/web/20141225154008/http://twitpic(dot)com/37q1bm ), and Twitpic stores the tweet as the page title. It's linked to from this tweet: https://twitter(dot)com/NintendoAmerica/status/12628297682784256 , but I assume it was linked to from an earlier one. I just figured you'd be interested to know about this. :D (P.S. yes, excuse the (dot) in urls -- it's to get around the spam filter. Results May Vary (talk) 11:43, October 24, 2021 (EDT)
- Ooooh what's an example? I do remember adding Wii Shop Channel profile for Zelda: A Link to the Past & the two Zelda NES games on Triforce Wiki (I think OOT as well). Also it's not just you -- the comments on Twitpic are gone. Results May Vary (talk) 14:46, October 24, 2021 (EDT)

They said I’m allowed to use his flatulences towards something productive, so now I’m adding some WARIO flare to my barbecue everytime I need it. Hey, could you upload a gold screenshot of the Monty Moles when World 6 is cleared in Dr. Mario World? Also, did Monty Mole ever appear in the concept art for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle? MontyMoleLoreMaster (talk) 16:35, October 31, 2021 (EDT)

Mario Odyssey photo contest
Did you know about this? Nintendo of Japan had one for Super Mario Odyssey in the past, and they had separate sets of articles (such as this where they would put gold or silver frame around the screenshot. They appeared to have attributed the original Twitter uploaders or whomever too. This might be worth documenting somehow. Results May Vary (talk) 23:38, November 1, 2021 (EDT)
December update
Hey Koop, I'm just giving you some updates regarding me, Triforce Wiki, and wikis in general, especially because I know you love the Mario Wiki format as much as I do. This month, Triforce Wiki has been suffering from a lot of connection issues, and since I'm low on money, I had to move to a new host (the url is now at triforcewiki.com, and it is hosted by grifkuba). Doc von Schmeltwick is the main one in charge of it now (and had the original idea for the wiki in the first place). This has left room for me to fulfill a few new opportunities.
Recently I've been tackling a few more Nintendo-related wikis. I've started up a few wikis for the Miraheze community (seeing as I have a friend there & can't afford hosting): Nintendo Wiki (this one I adopted actually), Super Smash Bros. Wiki, and Pokémon Wiki -- this is something that I've wanted to do for a long time (and for Nintendo Wiki I've wanted to do one since 2018 but had to shelve it because Zelda was a more urgent matter). It might sound blasphemous but I mixed some of the Mario Wiki format with the late 2000s Wikia gaming wiki style seeing as this is still on a wiki farm after all. Besides, if ever the time comes where I can run Nintendo-related wikis in the style of mariowiki.com again, the plan is not for me to delete these wikis (although articles can be moved over) but rather to start three complimentary ones that are independently hosted outside of Miraheze (I already have some domains necessary for doing that if ever the time comes). As for altogether new wikis that haven't had an independent counterpart yet, I'll refer them to grifkuba from now on (seeing as they have been handling the requests & I felt I've played my role in that regard).
I found that a friend was working on his own Kirby Wiki. I'm not fond of the fact that he's been importing from Kirby Wiki on Fandom (even if the content license allows for it). However, I tried making the style as faithful to this wiki's as possible (and am imagining a 'what could've been' if a kirbywiki.com had been started in like early 2007 or so).
I hope that all is well with you, and hopefully wikis in general will continue having a brighter future ahead of them. :) Results May Vary (talk) 09:21, December 12, 2021 (EST)
- Yeah, like I said, I don't have the cash at the moment to host wikis, so I'm unfortunately no longer the proprietor of Triforce Wiki (although I made sure to act in my community's best interest by handing them over to a stable, fast & reliable host). Miraheze does back up their wikis to archive.org, so that always helps in case I feel concerned of something occurring (I do get paranoid of wiki services being a trap, especially since the Fandom/Gamepedia buyout, but thankfully I felt suspicious of Gamepedia from the start). It's great -- the Mario Wiki format for documenting franchises that we love. Some think I crank out too many wikis because of it, but I'd say I'm just insanely ardent about making sure folks like us are properly represented. :P I don't start anything unless I feel that I have room for it. As for the low article count from start-up wikis, I look forward by playing the long game rather than instantly wanting all the articles, best SEO, etc. Results May Vary (talk) 13:43, December 12, 2021 (EST)
- Also no prob, I love doing this stuff despite the difficulties that may arise. :D Results May Vary (talk) 13:47, December 12, 2021 (EST)
- I have created a family of wikis under the banner "Gaming Wiki Network," and I have friends who help me on them (Spyro is the one that has been struggling the most with finding help, although it has over 100 articles thankfully, pretty much all of which were made by me, with Wikipedia as a base to help build it up of course). Pokemon, Smash, and Nintendo will be separate ventures from GWN. If I didn't think I could handle something (e.g. I wouldn't be able to do a World of Warcraft or Fallout wiki, as I know nothing of those two franchises & not enough for Metroid either), then I would not be doing them. I think it's the popularity and potential of the three that help me feel more confident. I did do a Play Nintendo article on Pokemon somewhere a while back, and I'll need to go dig that out and show you.
- I think something else you may have noticed with me is that I'm willing to endure as much drama, pushback, and criticism if it means providing a valuable resource for others to benefit from. Results May Vary (talk) 12:14, December 13, 2021 (EST)
- I do have a short-tempered personality sadly, and I did not handle the criticism/pushback that I had when creating Triforce Wiki well at all. It was a learning experience, and I'm glad I went through all the struggles to get it set up (from hosting costs, stress, and providing for fellow Mario Wiki editors). :) No one should have to ever go through harsh treatment just because they're unsatisfied with the option(s) that they have, and the criticism I faced made me realize that the problem doesn't just lie within Zelda itself (as you said before, you're not satisfied with Bulbapedia & I know several unsatisfied with NWiki -- I've wanted to make an alternative to it more in vein of nintendo.fandom.com since 2018 actually. Given how big Nintendo is, there are two ways to go about it -- casual & narrowing it down to list pages like on Wikipedia, hence why I plan a second Nintendo Wiki, as there could be split disagreement on how to handle it).
- Also, Miraheze does back up their wikis to archive.org, which is prob the biggest reason why I've felt confident using it for the couple of NIWA wiki alternatives that I started very recently, just so that I don't have to fear that my work will be lost or abandoned. I know a few folks there as well. The only reason these three wikis are not in full Mario Wiki style is because that demographic would prefer an actual independent hosted wiki (like mariowiki.com), so I reuse abandoned templates, help pages, ideas, etc. from late 2000s Wikia (and mix with mariowiki.com for things like license templates, some templates & categories), as that would probably be more suitable. I said I'd manage separate Pokemon, Nintendo, and Smash Bros. wikis on independent host if ever I am confident that I have a solid plan forward -- this way both the independent and the Miraheze communities can have their own. This is an even riskier endeavor than Triforce Wiki was, but inside I feel this is the right task for me to do on behalf of you and my other friends. - There's over 50 articles on there now, many of which i wrote a while ago. Will need to prob redesign the infobox templates. I was imagining a Pokemon Puzzle Challenge article for a while now, especially because it has some relation to Tetris Attack in terms of gameplay. As for Nintendo Wiki, I'll prob add some Find Mii, Nintendo Badge Arcade, and other general Nintendo topics that have formerly had articles here. Results May Vary (talk) 12:12, January 31, 2022 (EST)
- There's a coverage policy here, which should describe what's allowed & what's not (Nintendo Wiki on Fandom is ok with reuse), and we can change it if necessary. It's very broad and I feel conflicted at times about whether making a page on like Sonic the Hedgehog especially to list Nintendo-related appearances (in List of game appearances section) or not. Results May Vary (talk) 12:49, January 31, 2022 (EST)
- I will also say that a while ago I privately worked on a Nintendo wiki with a more narrowed scope as it would seem as if the coverage could go in either one of two directions. It can feel complicated at times because like Kid Icarus is a small franchise but has independent wiki yet something Balloon Fight or Excitebike does not. There's been times where Nintendo did licensed games as well (for example, Hello Kitty-related Balloon Fight game iirc). Results May Vary (talk) 12:52, January 31, 2022 (EST)
- On another note, so like you have Gaming Wiki Network (Triforce Wiki, Crash Wiki, Jiggywikki, etc.). Few days ago, I established a parallel on Miraheze titled Miraheze Gaming Services, of which Croc Wiki is the flagship/mascot wiki. May not be for everyone as some still feel iffy about wiki farms in general, but even if working there, such things at least help concentrate the efforts, especially if me & others work on many of them. I ran out of money for wiki hosting as well sadly. Results May Vary (talk) 14:59, February 4, 2022 (EST)

Would this count as a source? WildWario (talk) 06:28, March 11, 2022 (EST)
- Oh, seems like it. I'd primarily cite this since it's a discount selection directly from Nintendo's site (it's linked in that 9to5toys article), but the article you linked does list a couple major American retailers that took part in this Mario Day event and should be cited for that, as well. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 06:41, March 11, 2022 (EST)
thanks bro
Thank you for seeing my point about the Diddy Kong Racing series. Idk, I just feel strongly about how annoyed I am that things got messed up and like at least 3-4 different sequel attempts to Diddy Kong Racing were canceled (although if Banjo were considered a part of the "Marioverse" then I suppose Banjo-Pilot might count). On unrelated note, I did mention here that I think we got Mario Wiki-style wikis for all the essential series & franchises connected to Mario. I literally built off Mario Wiki's article on Pikachu, Samus, Kirby, etc on the appropriate wikis. Results May Vary (talk) 12:20, March 24, 2022 (EDT)
- The reuse is as a basis to expand upon, especially for subjects outside of the Mario/DK/Yoshi/Wario franchises or are related but can be expanded upon elsewhere (e.g. Nintendo Entertainment System can be expanded upon on a general Nintendo wiki). Building from ground up is definitely difficult but then, as your point goes, one would want to try to offer something new & original, even if it's a familiar style (e.g. Triforce Wiki uses a familiar style). - I posted some more on his talk page. I can't believe we could possibly be having articles for Mario-related content within Zelda (if my Link Awakening proposal passes -- it's 4-1-1 with none opposing). Another step above that would be a Legend of Zelda series page (LinkTheLefty can explain it better than I do as he's the real Zelda expert -- I even made a proposal for Zelda series earlier today). The Three Little Warios are being targeted for mutually assured destruction
But this fate has been temporarily prolonged until you can answer this question: what order should these Warios should have their living daylights blown off, complete with pants, for extra humiliation?
- The first one, which is an affluent Wario but has ruined his low standing in society by joining the Virtual Boy bike gang and then graffiti'd his house after building it of bricks?
- The second Wario who was so cheap and kept snoozing on the construction job he used his chest hair to construct a hut?
- Or the third Wario who just stole so many sticks from people trying to play fetch with Chain Chomps, thanks to his green camouflage that helped him blend in his grassy surroundings, that he just built a house out of it?
Mario-HOHO! (Talk / Stalk) 20:34, May 1, 2022 (EDT)
- The Wario in the middle, because "Wario's chest hair" spells one thing: genetic mutation. We've observed the parent Wario to be devoid of any body hair. If such a small transformation has occured so fast between generations, we cannot be sure of the dangerous superhuman capabilities this individual's children may give rise to if left to thrive. I'd say nip it in the bud.
- The Wario on the right, but I have a feeling he'll die sooner or later anyway. Lay down your gun for this one; if he likes grabbin' Chain Chomp sticks so much, we can just put super glue on one of those sticks and let the... dog out in the open.
- The Wario on the left. He should be left to perish to natural causes, sad that he's spent his life slowly losing every penny in his wealth to quench his rebellious tendencies. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 16:56, May 2, 2022 (EDT)

Mandibug Stack and Mario Portal
I was going to bring that one up on the talk page, but it seems this is already in the process of being moved. I don't necessarily like it, but, well, I've been in the minority on two post-Encyclopedia cases: Nipper Dandelion and Ghost. I think for the former especially, the message seems clear that we are ready to move forward with officialized names as long as they're the exception and not the rule like it was in English Encyclopedia. Additionally, once the Mario Portal changes have been applied, we may have to rethink our relationship with English Encyclopedia. Rewriting Mandibug Stack (and Whimp!) is going to be a bit awkward in the Encyclopedia article though. As for other Dark Horse-isms: I haven't noticed any, though I have suspicions about Super Mario Land 2 (not that it's technically wrong). LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:16, August 13, 2022 (EDT)
- Addendum: There actually are a handful of things besides Mandibug Stack and Whimp that stick out. Mega Grrrol also resurfaces. Fire Shooter, Moneybag, and Sky Blooper could be coincidences, although I'm inclined to believe that they're not. Original localizations Fireball Boy and Sentry Garage also return ala Piranha Pod. That said, except for the Super Mario Land 2 romanizations, it throws out more than it carries over from Encyclopedia. LinkTheLefty (talk) 02:47, August 14, 2022 (EDT)
Rearranging of characters in favored and favorite courses

- On second thought, does this rearranging need to be done? I'm already falling behind on getting every course's tour appearances up because I'm busy rearranging 3DS Rosalina's Ice World's tour appearances. Sonic Speed 48 22:15, August 16, 2022 (EDT)
Regarding Plurp
Agreed. The game itself calls them "crystals" according to here, and since in-game sources are highest priority then they would remain the same (though that's getting into whether or not Parasol Fall would be considered a game in and of itself, but I'd consider that a form of web content given how limited it is). We already give guides separate tiers for the publisher and era they were made in, so the same might be done for web content. We also need to be careful of situations where social media accounts say something that make us go "okay, who was the intern in charge of that one?" (I can think of this happening a few times with Nintendo-related IPs, and of course, Ahehehauhe). I think Mister Wu (talk) indicated for a while that he wouldn't mind if we did something like this, and Mario Portal could just be the thing that pushes it. RE: Megabug Collection image
It's official but that doesn't always mean it needs to be added. It's not an issue of oversaturation, but the main intent of that promotional image is to show the weapons' designs, the text being a less important aspect of it (especially since it's just general advertising text saying what it is, and the collection name, which can just be noted somewhere like a weapons foreign names list). The DMW images are different because the text is at least a more significant aspect of the images and they show the differences in the event messages and names. Re:Conjectural freeze
I wish I can give a definitive answer on this one, but the formats that Retro Studios used for Tropical Freeze (at least the Wii U version, don't have the Switch version) ended up being way too time-consuming for me. Maybe if there's some mass-conversion tool or editing utility I'm not aware of, I can take another look sometime, but I gather that hasn't gotten as far as other Retro games, so you're going to have to ask someone else who's much more familiar with this stuff. From what I made out of extracted texture filenames, though, "Warus" looks like Waldough or a variant (this ended up being used for its Japanese name), "UberOwler" sounds like Puffton or another Hootz, "Painguin" appears to be some general Tucks rather than Painguin Tucks or Papa Painguin specifically, and "RiverMonster" seems to be Horror Gills. Please don't add them to the wiki since I'm not 100%, though. I was able to easily identify which level archives belonged to what by referencing text pointers in extracted MSBT files, which is how I also confirmed that the entire second and third worlds were swapped (I also suspect the "-K" levels might have belonged to their own world since that's how they're labeled). Re:English scripts
Well, for extreme cases where the English flavor text is an outright discrepancy with the Japanese, I think it's more or less established that both are listed, like SMB3 Worlds and Young Link or, more pertinently, the Belmonts. It's different when it's just a matter of semantics/spelling, though. Tepes is a straightforward anglicization of Țepeș with the same pronunciation, so you can get either out of the Japanese phonetics, and it's been around since III at least. It clearly isn't as drastic a change as something like Cristoforo Colombo. To me, it's kind of like arguing that「スーパーマリオブラザーズ」should really be "Super Mario Brothers" - I mean, it might be technically more accurate, but at the same time, it also looks a bit silly when officially it's obviously written as "Super Mario Bros." It's also not so easy to figure out which renderings are intentional stylistic choices or not, so my approach would be to assume it is until suggested otherwise by the writer (or Konami of Japan), which probably isn't too likely. But if you still insist, maybe we can add a sidenote that Dracula Vlad Tepes is named after and loosely based on the historical figure, Vlad Țepeș, in much the same way that his neice Template:Wikia would be named after and loosely based on Erzsébet Báthory?
As for a hardline-proposal on foreign languages using foreign languages, that is going to require some thought. Sometimes, article titles cite an English name that happens to come from a Japanese source, such as Flapper or Fire Nipper Plant, not to mention the whole of Mario Portal (nintendo.co.jp). For all intents and purposes, these are considered English names. On the other hand, it did cross my mind whether or not the German Yoshi's Story guide had usable Shy Guy names since some share Englsh words. Where would be a good place to draw the line? LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:42, January 30, 2023 (EST)
- Perhaps, but Castlevania was intended to be a Universal parody before later going in a more Gothic direction (hence anachronistic elements that became staples like Frankenstein's monster), which is why the early games sometimes had a film reel feel as if they were a classic Hollywood movie (I wonder if that in any way inspired SMB3's theatre aesthetic come think of it). With the actual era they were going for, anglicization of names in ways such as removing accents was more common, and I do seem to recall a particular copy of the Dracula novel writing it as "Tepes" in an added forward.
As for your other point, I think it may be worth a bigger discussion over at MarioWiki talk:Naming (and I can think of at least two others off the top of my head: The Vinery and The Trial Course). Honestly, my gut feeling is to treat it case-by-case like the page determined we currently do with internal names; for example, the Japanese game Super Mario Bros. Special would be considered English enough since it is rendered as such on the box cover and title screen, but most of the enemy cast listed in the ending would be considered Japanese due to being direct romanizations that tend to read nonsensically in English. GCN Dino Dino Jungle R Time Trial
I don’t see the icon for the Time Trial on GCN Dino Dino Jungle R on the “Time Trial (Mario Kart Tour)” page. Can you add it? ~~~~ User:LaxBro9/sig 12:33, January 31, 2023 (EST)
