Kurogane Kosakusho Ltd. (often shortened to Kurogane) is a Japanese furniture company that mostly works on office furniture, such as desks and chairs. Nintendo worked alongside them from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s to create several Super Mario-themed desk accessories and furniture.

Super Mario Bros. collection

Kurogane released their first collection of Super Mario themed furniture in 1986. It was based on the video game Super Mario Bros. and the collection consisted of:

  • One garbage bin costing 1,600 yen.
  • One rug costing 7,500 yen.
  • One shelf and clothing rack combination costing 19,500 yen.
  • Two different sized cutting mats costing 2,200 and 3,600 yen.
  • Two different sized desk mats costing 2,100 and 2,600 yen.
  • Two different sized "S" racks costing 12,800 and 13,800 yen.
  • Two different sized study boards costing 950 and 1,100 yen.
  • Nine chairs with different designs and styles with prices ranging from 7,600 to 12,800 yen.[1][2]

Sometime between 1988 and 1990, Kurogane released another furniture collection based on Super Mario Bros. 3.[3][4]

In 1990 or 1991, Kurogane released their third Super Mario themed furniture collection, this one being based on Super Mario World. The collection consisted of:

  • One heated rug costing 15,500 yen.
  • One reading board costing 1,800 yen.
  • One whiteboard costing 1,000 yen.
  • Two different modeled garbage bins with different designs costing 1,700 yen.
  • Two different sized study boards costing 1,000 and 1,800 yen.
  • Two rugs costing 8,300 and 9,000 yen.
  • Three different sized cupboard and clothing rack combinations with prices ranging from 25,000 to 30,000 yen.
  • Five different sized desk mats costing 3,200 and 3,900 yen.
  • Six different sized schoolbags with the same design with prices ranging from 20,000 to 69,800 yen.
  • Nine chairs with different designs and styles with prices ranging from 12,500 to 18,500 yen.[5][6][7][8]
