- “We need to get those mirrors back into position! Now!”
- —Noki, Super Mario Sunshine
Mirror Madness! Tilt, Slam, Bam! is the second episode of Gelato Beach in Super Mario Sunshine. The episode's objective is to defeat the Plungelos on the mirrors.
Layout
Surrounding the tower in the center of Gelato Beach are three large mirrors, which are meant to keep the Sand Bird's egg warm. However, several Plungelos are messing with the tilt of the mirrors and a large Wiggler has decided to rest on the top of the tower for this episode.
To reach the first mirror, the player needs to climb any of the trees on the beach and jump from one to to tilting mirror. To defeat the Plungelo, the player has to spray it to push it back to the edge of the mirror. Once it is teetering on the edge, the player needs to Ground Pound the opposite side of the mirror to launch the Plungelo off. After the Plungelo is launched off, the mirror will return to its proper position. The player can reach the second mirror by climbing up onto the stilted platform to the left of the tower. The Plungelos on this mirror can be defeated in the same way as the last Plungelo, but there are two of them on this mirror. The player can either avoid one while spraying the other to the edge, or spray them both to the same edge and launch them both at once. To reach the final mirror, the player can use a ledge on the tower's center and wait for the mirror to tilt in the player's direction. The final mirror has three Plungelos moving around, though the tactics of defeating them are the same as the others. Defeating the Plungelos and resetting all of the mirrors' positions will cause the Wiggler to fall apart and the Shine Sprite will appear on the beach's peninsula.
