What I'm trying to say is that you're right that we should list everything and try to give it the importance it deserves. That means the games, being the core of the ''Mario'' franchise get supremacy, but the other media should not be swept aside. We should give the readers as much information as they need and let them scrutinize it, whether they're cross-examining the shows with the games (as I've been doing), or putting the screws to the games (which I've also been doing, though in a less in-your-face style in this particluar discussion). - [[User:Walkazo|Walkazo]]

Stumpers Talk

Welcome to my talk page. If you wish to contact me, this is the best way. Every twenty headings, I'll archive, but feel free to revive old conversations if you feel an issue needs to be explored more. Or, if you want to drop me a line, that's great, too. I love mail like... well, it's always special.

Some More Problems

I'll list out the problems.

  • I thought we agreed on no boxart (or release dates for that matter). Makes loading times slower.
  • The history section is redundant because obviously peaches grow on trees. Or any fruit for that matter. You might as well say on all fruit articles that they grow on trees. If an article is based off of something in real-life, only explain the features that are different about the generic item in the Marioverse. We could pretty much explain everything about Lava in the real world, that it melts things, that it is made from molten rocks, etc.. So a whole section explaining how Peaches grow is not good. The rest of the history section is better off being explained in the Appearances section.
  • What are alternate storylines? Does it have something to do with canonicity?
  • Why do we need to put it in table form? Although it does look nicer, it is horribly inconsistent with the other articles.
  • Why are there section for every single time peaches have been mentioned? Appearing physically in a game is worthy of its own sub-section, but just saying the phrase "Peachy" does not need its own sub-section. Probably belongs in a merged sub-section of the times it has been mentioned (also, what does saying Peachy have to do with the item Peach?)

Yes, the article will lose a lot of content if we apply these changes, but quality is always more important than quantity.Knife (talk) 18:36, 6 February 2008 (EST)

Proposal

Hello. I just want to tell you I totally agree with what you said on the proposals page for the Bob Hoskins quote. The first 2 sections should be merged. I merged them but Time Q removed it. I put it back though. I hope we win. Toadette Toadette 4evur!! File:MP7 Toadette.jpg *Let's just hope Time Q reads your comment before doing more editing*

Heh Heh (Did I Just Laugh?)

LOL, slingin' frenzy ahoy! I haven't played it in about a week and a half. I've got a real puppy (or rather my mom does...) and she's soooo much cuter than the lame, untouchable, mean, spiteful, funny-looking, I-won't-listen-to-your-commands, 64-bit aggravations called "Nintendogs". :P May they shrivel and die! Different Timelines

The thing about your SMS and LM example is that their conflicting portrayals of King Boo can easily be explained by saying after his failure in LM he became depressed (or something along those lines) and that's why he looks more like a drunkard in SMS than a King. Then perhaps his second defeat shook some sence into him and he got back on the right track, hense his cleaned up appearances in later games such as Double Dash!! But that's nitpicking. As you said we should give our readers the whole story so they can come up with these sorta theories on their own.

The perfectly understandable reason for why the games are always given supremacy is because Mario started out as a videogame; became famous as a videogame; and long after all those movies, shows and comics have come and gone, it's still a videogame. Most people have no idea it was also a show and a few movies; I haven't even seen those cartoons (if I had I'm sure I could point out more issues than just Peach and Koopas' appearances but sadly I don't have that option), just the live action movie (by chance). For clarity's sake, it's easier to split the games, movies, comics and shows up; but I too feel it's a bit unfair to stick all the non-game sources into one conglomerate of "Alternate Appearances". In the case of Mario & Luigi's Parents the shows and whatnot are significant enough to make up the bulk of the article, but this is the acception, and as such seems a bit of an abnomality.

What I'm trying to say is that you're right that we should list everything and try to give it the importance it deserves. That means the games, being the core of the Mario franchise get supremacy, but the other media should not be swept aside. We should give the readers as much information as they need and let them scrutinize it, whether they're cross-examining the shows with the games (as I've been doing), or putting the screws to the games (which I've also been doing, though in a less in-your-face style in this particluar discussion). - Walkazo
