Kolorado is a bold (although somewhat foolish) explorer in Paper Mario that Mario meets in Dry Dry Desert. He is trying to solve the mystery of Dry Dry Ruins.
Later, Mario encounters Kolorado again trying to get to Lavalava Island. Mario helps the Whale by defeating the Fuzzipede inside him and Mario and Kolorado can go to Lavalava Island. There, Kolorado searched desperately for the mysterious treasure of Mt. Lavalava, though his foolhardy antics mostly got in the way of Mario's quest for the Star Spirit. When they come back, Mario helps defeat Kent C. Koopa, the Koopa who is blocking Kolorado's way to Koopa Village. His wife waits for Kolorado to come home in a house with a yellow roof in Koopa Village.
For the rest of the game he stands outside his house with his wife in Koopa Village. Kolorado is actually trying to sneak away to discover a way to the Crystal Palace. After you beat Bowser, Kolorado, his assistants, and Kooper (who is a big fan of Kolorado) are on their way to the palace when Parakarry drops in and offers Kooper an invitation to the party at Peach's Castle while delivering poor Kolorado a message from his angry wife back at the Koopa Village.
It is revealed his father unfortunately died in Hooktail Castle in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. When Mario, Goombella and Koops found his father's body, they were given a clue to defeat Hooktail.
Kolorado sometimes has a problem with identifying things. Notable incidents include mistaking a whale for a tuna (despite the whale constantly telling him it's a whale) and mistaking Misstar the Star Spirit for a starfish.
