Links
Please don't add links willy-nilly to certain terms. They need to be the correct subject to be used, e.g. "Attack" is the stat from the Mario & Luigi series, not attacks in general, and "CD" is the in-game items from Wario Land 4 and Smash, not generic real-life CDs. Links should also use the original article's name, with the link's display name changed if necessary (e.g. [[List of enemies|enemy]]
, not simply [[enemy]]
).
Also, you didn't respond regarding TheEnormousWario; I take it it didn't work? Mario JC 23:42, January 14, 2021 (EST)
It didn’t work. And that account was later blocked by Alex95. - BigBowserBoss FIRE! 12:57, 2 February 2021 (EST)
- You're still doing this, please check where the link you're making leads before adding it into an article- the fish page is about a microgame, not the species, and manga is a disambiguation page, which should be avoided linking to where possible. BBQ Turtle (talk) 10:18, January 20, 2021 (EST)
I don’t do it anymore. - BigBowserBoss FIRE! 17:51, 22 January 2021 (EST)
- Another one I should mention. Japan seems to mainly talk about the country's appearance in NES Open Tournament Golf, so that's another one that shouldn't really be linked if we're talking about the real world country. Keyblade Master (talk) 04:00, February 2, 2021 (EST)
Why can I still not create pages
I’ve made more than ten edits and been on the wiki for one week which means I’m autoconfirmed, but why am I still not able to create pages? - BigBowserBoss FIRE! 17:00, 22 January 2021 (EST)
Edits
Stop making pointless edits like this, you've done this multiple times and even reverted it immediately after twice and calling it "your error". This is a form of disruptive editing and will result in a reminder or warning if it continues. Mario JC 07:25, January 23, 2021 (EST)
Red links
Please don't remove red links just because they don't exist. They're for subjects that need an article but haven't received one yet. Mario JC 20:17, January 24, 2021 (EST)
Cubone article
One or more pages that you have recently created have been deleted or marked as a stub article (Cubone). Please consider the following ideas and suggestions when expanding/creating an article:
|
Additionally, Cubone does not require a page on this wiki, as it is already covered on the Pokémon page, and only makes very minor appearances in the Super Smash Bros. series- appearing as a background element and trophy is not enough to warrant an article. I would recommend reading through the information on MarioWiki:Coverage before creating any further articles like that. BBQ Turtle (talk) 13:23, January 25, 2021 (EST)
@BBQ Turtle:Do you think it’s a good idea to redirect to the Pokemon page? - BigBowserBoss FIRE! 13:29, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- We normally do use redirects for that sort of thing, so I would say so. Nightwicked Bowser
Generic list links
Please stop adding those, multiple users (myself included) have been removing those because they are unnecessary and look very awkward and forced. Also, links to those lists are already along the left edge of the screen under "browse," which is more convenient anyways. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:33, February 1, 2021 (EST)
But look at the tip from Mario jc here. - BigBowserBoss FIRE! 05:18, 2 February 2021 (EST)
And that same kind of link is included in here (now removed) and here. - BigBowserBoss FIRE! 14:06, 2 February 2021 (EST)
- I think this should be discussed somewhere before you go any further with it. Nightwicked Bowser 14:42, February 2, 2021 (EST)
Just to let you know, this has been brought up with the administration and consensus so far is to stop doing this practice. I'd suggest not adding those links until further notice, because it's likely that they will eventually be removed anyway. -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 17:41, February 2, 2021 (EST)
- Hope you don't mind if I go through this user's contribution history and revert these edits. Nightwicked Bowser 17:53, February 2, 2021 (EST)
Templates
Can you please explain why you think articles should be rewritten if you're gonna put that rewrite template in? Also if there doesn't really seem like there is much else to add to an article, even if the article isn't that big, the Stub template isn't necessary. Nightwicked Bowser 08:41, February 3, 2021 (EST)
@Keyblade Master: What else can I do to help this wiki? - BigBowserBoss FIRE! 09:12, February 3, 2021 (EST)
- I don't think he's saying to never add templates to articles ever, instead he's saying that you should only put them in when they're truly needed and not in very short pages that even though they're short, they have enough length to tell everything about whatever's the article talking about. Take the WarioWare souvenirs as an example, some articles are very short but they document all that there is for the souvenirs. --Tent2 09:21, February 3, 2021 (EST)
- That is exactly what I mean. We also don't put welcome templates on user talk pages anymore. Nightwicked Bowser 09:28, February 3, 2021 (EST)
- BigBowserBoss, since you asked, i'll tell you what else you can do in the wiki: Add more info to stubs, make images transparent if needed, replace images with low quality, or rewrite articles that need it. --Tent2 09:34, February 3, 2021 (EST)
- That is exactly what I mean. We also don't put welcome templates on user talk pages anymore. Nightwicked Bowser 09:28, February 3, 2021 (EST)
First can you give me some helpful tips, as I do quite a bad job for those kind of things. - BigBowserBoss FIRE! 09:35, February 3, 2021 (EST)
- You can find things to do at MarioWiki:Maintenance. Wynn Liaw 09:42, February 3, 2021 (EST)
- Thank you! - BigBowserBoss FIRE! 09:44, February 3, 2021 (EST)
You still seem to be misusing certain templates. The conjecture template is only for articles which don't have an official name anywhere, so please look more carefully at the article before putting that template in. And similar to what I said about the stub template, the images template is not needed if there aren't really any more images to add. Do not put that template in just because the article only has one or two images. Nightwicked Bowser 09:17, February 5, 2021 (EST)
Reminder
Please stop making unconstructive edits on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing. If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
I already told you what conjectural templates are for. The White Magikoopa's name is shown in literally every game it appears in. Please do not put the conjectural template in an article unless there is absoloutely no sign of the title being an official name. Nightwicked Bowser 11:04, February 6, 2021 (EST)
- I also get the feeling you still haven't quite got it down with linking. Before doing any more of these links, I would suggest searching and seeing where the link you are adding would take you. If it is a disambiguation page, please don't add that link. Nightwicked Bowser 11:15, February 6, 2021 (EST)
- One other thing, other wikis such as FANDOM and GameFAQs cannot be used as sources because they can be edited by anyone. Nightwicked Bowser 11:33, February 6, 2021 (EST)
But I can’t really find any other sources. - BigBowserBoss FIRE! 09:15, February 7, 2021 (EST)
- The name usually is somewhere else on the page. It certainly was on all the other pages you put that template in previously. If you're not sure if the name is official, either bring it up on the talk page or don't add the template at all, speculative editing is one thing we absoloutely do not allow on here. Nightwicked Bowser 09:27, February 7, 2021 (EST)
How many times do I have to tell you about the conjecture template? Green fish's name has a reference in the page. Besides, it's the sort of template that would be there upon a page's creation (should have said that earlier actually). If you keep putting the conjecture template on articles which have official names, you may be given a warning. Nightwicked Bowser 07:37, February 22, 2021 (EST)
Re: Categories
Hello, I can't seem to find the specific edits you're referring to right now, but I can still answer your question. Basically, if a page is already in a subcategory, then it is already included in the larger category- for example, Super Horn is in the Mario Kart 8 Items category, and as it is in that category, it is also included under the general Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart Series Items categories. Therefore adding another instance of a category it is already part of is unnecessary, particularly if you were to add all of the extra categories for something that was a subcategory of lots of others it would get a bit cluttered. We've got some official guidance for categories in general here, and I think the bit you're looking for is this one here. As for why we don't do that here when other websites do, well we have our own guidelines here, we're not Wikipedia and we're most certainly not "FANDOM", so we don't have to do things in the exact same way. re:Can you grant this user the right
Hey there, it's nice you're looking out for your fellow editors. As explained on MarioWiki:Patrollers, we don't take requests for promotions but rest assured we're always looking at active editors for prospective candidates. --Glowsquid (talk) 14:31, March 2, 2021 (EST)
