A Peachy Peach.

Peachy Peaches are a type of round, pink fruit available in both the Mushroom Kingdom and Flipside. The item can be created as the result of a failed cooking attempt, usually involving an offensive item such as the Fire Flower. The Peachy Peach is a restorative item, and its effects can be improved through cooking.

The cooking properties of the Peachy Peach are very unusual. The item can combine with other items that are relatively useless alone to create much better items. Some items can even become higher quality versions of themselves as a result of a combination with a Peachy Peach.

The Mushroom Kingdom version of the item restores only one Health Point and two Flower Points on its own, but after being cooked alone or with other ingredients, its effects become much greater. The fruits that grow in Flipside are slightly more effective as curative items, restoring twelve HP in addition to curing poison.

During his adventures in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario, Mario never came across the plant that grows Peachy Peaches. Rather, he found them being sold or offered as complimentary benefits. During his quest for the Crystal Stars, the plumber was offered one as a thank-you present for staying in the inn at Twilight Town. The owner silently left it on the table for his guest. While stopping the plans of Count Bleck, Mario saw them at the Itty Bits store in the Dotwood Tree. They are sold for twenty-five Coins.

Trivia

  • In Animal Crossing, a fruit called a "peach" could be seen in the game; The peach was identical to the Peachy Peach. Animal Crossing was released for the Gamecube before Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, making one wonder if the design was either taken from or was a reference to Animal Crossing.
