Mario begins this level on the planet with a grassy field and house on one side and a dark tower on the other. This level involves feeding a hungry Luma one hundred Star Bits, so pick up as many as possible. They can be found by defeating enemies, in crystals, in the grass, and raining from the sky, among other sources. When finished with this planet, hop up the stone stairs on the tower side of the planet and talk to the blue Luma. He'll transform into Pull Stars which lead to a Launch Star. This leads Mario to a set of three planets connected by Launch Stars. The planet that resembles a Yoshi Egg is the one that holds the hungry Luma. Mario can use the Launch Stars to travel around the three planets as much as he wants to fulfill the Luma's quota of Star Bits. Talk to the hungry Luma, and she'll explode with snacky happiness and create a new planet and Launch Star. Climb up the structure on this new planet to reach the Launch Star at the top, which will launch Mario to the Pill Planet. One of the crystals on this planet covers the entrance, so smash it and head inside. This is a 2D platforming area, so head through it carefully, switching the gravity when necessary. The top of the planet contains a Launch Star. Mario will finally end up on a star-shaped structure with blue Star Chips and the Power Star in the middle. Grab the blue Star Chips to create Pull Stars, which will aid Mario in grabbing the Power Star.
A Snack of Cosmic Proportions is the second level of the Good Egg Galaxy, and once completed you'll be rewarded with a star. Your goal in this level is to feed a particular Luma on the Yoshi Egg planet so that it'll transform, leading you to the final area.

The Luma mentioned above will require 100 star bits. Star bits can be found everywhere in this level, and there are seemingly an infinite amount of them. The final platform here is a large, star shaped planetoid with an open center. Your objective here is to collect all of the blue star shards, thus revealing five Pull Stars which can be used to collect the star in the middle.

The designers created this mission so that if you don't have enough star bits when it's time to feed the Luma, you'll be allowed to wrap around a set amount of planets as many times as you want until you get the appropriate amount.

The Good Egg Galaxy is one of the first worlds in Super Mario Galaxy. It is a galaxy which, unlike many of the others in the game, does not have a set theme such as ice or fire. Rather, it mainly consists of multiple small planetoids and a variety of different themes that usually contradict each other. Dino Piranha and King Kaliente are fought here.

Planets

Pill Planet

An obstacle-filled part of the Pill Planet.

The Pill Planet is shaped like a giant, transparent pill. It contains many obstacles and items, mainly Coins and Item Crystals. Atop the towering planet is a Launch Star that Mario can use to break out of the Pill Planet's glassy surface. This planet contains a 2D platforming area with variable gravity.

Magma Planet

Mario on the Magma Planet, after defeating King Kaliente.

This is where the boss battle against King Kaliente takes place. It consists of a hot lava pool with a shiny tar-like ring of ground around it. The rest of the planet is just simple hot rock. The planet is quite big compared to others like the Tropic Planet, since it needs to have a decently large size for the fight to be held. Underneath the Magma Planet is a rocky area with yellow rings on it like a target.

Yoshi Egg Planet

A very small planet. The planet resembles a Yoshi Egg, and was first seen in a video at GDC 2007. The planet can be found in the mission known as A Snack of Cosmic Proportions, where a hungry Luma will await a feeding.

Geo Planet

The Geo Planet is a planet. It is a small planet where the Dino Piranha boss is battled. The Geo Planet is made of gravel and rock with hints of grass sticking out, much like a simple ball of earth mixed up together. There are Item Crystals on it with a few Coins in them.

Boulder Planet

The Boulder Planet.

It is a yellow planet that resembles a peanut with little grooves where the boulders have been rolling. It has about 6 boulders that Mario must dodge and or break, as seen in the screenshot. It was first seen in the Star World (Galaxy),which was later renamed Good Egg Galaxy, and appeared in the final game with a recolor in the Good Egg Galaxy. It was originally blue.

Levels

Dino Piranha

Mario starts this level on a planet with a grassy scene and a house on one side and a dark tower on the other side. At the top of the tower is a Sling Star which propels Mario into a Launch Star. This sends him to the Boulder Planet, where five Star Chips are scattered. Dodging the boulders and collecting the Star Chips creates a Launch Star. Mario ends up on a small planet with a Piranha Plant. Kill the plant to get a vine which Mario must spin up. Climb the stones on the next planet to the Launch Star. Mario will launch and slam into a giant egg, which will begin to move around. Check Dino Piranha for more information on this boss fight.

A Snack of Cosmic Proportions

King Kaliente's Battle Fleet

During the beginning of this level you'll have to go through the orange pipe on the underside of the first planet in order to get to King Kaliente, the second and arguably more challenging boss of the Good Egg Galaxy. Before the fight, the Toad in this level will explain how if you spin next to a coconut, the item will be launched toward your enemies. This is mainly training you for the final fight with the boss.

Dino Piranha Speed Run

This level is the same as the original Dino Piranha level, except that you have a 4 minute timer to beat the level. As long as you know what to do and don't waste time, it should be pretty easy to beat it within the time limit.

Purple Coin Omelet

In this level, the player has to collect 100 purple coins to get the Power Star. Mario must traverse through the galaxy and collect these coins using launch stars. This is not an easy task, because unlike regular coins, purple coins do not heal health when collected. This purple coin challenge is pretty straightforward, and the coins are clustered in group or rows, as opposed to the scattered purple coins found in latter levels.

Luigi on the Roof

Sometime after Mario saves Luigi from the Ghostly Galaxy, Luigi will go out to the Good Egg Galaxy to search for a Power Star. Shortly after, the Mailtoad informs Mario that Luigi is lost and shows Mario a picture of Luigi's location. Mario needs to go to the first level of the Good Egg Galaxy and needs to get Luigi on top of the roof of the house. This is done by going to the bottom side of the first planet and then jumping in the yellow Warp Pipe and then into the next yellow Warp Pipe. Luigi will give Mario his Power Star. Alternetivly, Mario could simply use a backflip jump coupled with a wall jump and star spin to get on top of the house much easier.
