- Not to be confused with Heads Up.
Super Mario Strikers -- Heads Up, parsed in-game as Heads-Up, was a promotional online Flash game published by Nintendo around the release of Super Mario Strikers for the Nintendo GameCube. It was listed in the Nintendo Arcade, a now defunct section with web games on Nintendo's website.[1]
Gameplay
The aim of the game is to head a soccer ball for as long as possible by moving Mario around the screen with the left and right arrow keys. Meanwhile, the player has to bounce the ball into character icons that appear in random locations on the screen to collect them and obtain points for a score. Mushrooms and Blue Shells spawn at regular intervals and can be collected by Mario to grant him different effects. Mushrooms speed him up and make him glow red, while Blue Shells cause Mario to slow down and glow blue. The item that is currently taking effect is displayed on the top-left corner of the screen.
When a character icon appears, a voice clip of that character is heard. Each character icon is worth a certain number of points, depending on the character depicted on it. In order from least to most valuable, these are:
- brown – worth 2 points.
- limegreen – worth 4 points.
- Template:Color-link-piped – worth 5 points.
- green,
- DAA520 and Template:Color-link-piped – worth 8 points.
The current score and the high score are shown at the bottom of the screen. The game is over when the player fails to catch the ball. The game over screen offers the option to either replay the game or visit the official website for Super Mario Strikers.
The Palace arena is always seen in the background during the game.
