Funky Kong

So I'm just randomly poking around and I read what someone put there and I'm like "WHAT?!?!?" When did that get confirmed??? FK38 Sig Pic.PNG Funky K 38 475.png

You mean the "older brother" thing? I have no idea where that came from either. Fawfulfury65
And the whole thing about being Diddy's father and Wrinkly and Cranky's kid? Where the heck did that come from? User:FunkyK38
No idea. Sounds very unlikely. Fawfulfury65

Good, then I'll get rid of it. User:FunkyK38

Well it's still there, and apparently Swanky is DK's brother... WHAT??? If someone has any proof for all this, then tell us, because I'm removing this non-sense until it's confirmed. --Metalex123 (talk) 19:22, 25 September 2014 (EDT)

Girlfriends

girlfriends aren't really a part of a family until they get married... do they belong here? A Link to the Present 17:36, 8 April 2011 (EDT)

Also there is one that just says friend. A Link to the Present 17:43, 8 April 2011 (EDT)
Those characters have the Kong surname, so they must have some relation to the others. Mario4Ever (talk) 17:49, 8 April 2011 (EDT)
Don't bring that up. If Candy Kong/Donkey Kong and Dixie Kong/Diddy Kong are related, and they're dating... ew. --Reversinator 17:51, 8 April 2011 (EDT)
I'm guessing that the relation in those cases is very distant. It's still not the most pleasant idea to consider, though. Of course, many human beings are very, very distantly related and have no knowledge of that relation...and no, I'm not talking about the Judeo-Christian creation myth, but I digress. Just be glad no one's been bold enough to put anything relating to this as trivia. Mario4Ever (talk) 18:05, 8 April 2011 (EDT)

@user Mario4Ever not really you could have the same last name and not be related but in this case there Apes and apparently they practice incest Iggykoopa (talk)

Hopefully, that isn't the case. Mario4Ever (talk) 18:05, 8 April 2011 (EDT)

well it might be we really don't know and hey before i forget should the Pink Donkey Kong Jr. be part of the Kong Family article Iggykoopa (talk)

No. It only appears in Donkey Kong Jr. Math and as an alternate color scheme for DK Jr in Mario Tennis. It has never been seen with any of the other Kongs, and it has not been confirmed if it is a distinct Kong, a DK Jr. clone, or just an alternate color scheme. Adding it would just be speculation. Mario4Ever (talk) 18:18, 8 April 2011 (EDT)
Well, what about all these Kongs? they have the surname too. And, what do you mean Pink DKJR was not seen with the other Kongs? In DKJRMath she was seen with Donkey Kong Jr. AND Cranky Kong back when he was Donkey Kong. A Link to the Present 14:14, 9 April 2011 (EDT)
If characters have the same surname, one can reasonably assume that they are related to some extent, though the ones in the list (fought as bosses, etc.) are probably not as closely related to the main Kongs as the main Kongs are to each other. As for the pink DK. Jr., we don't know if it has a gender, and it is really nothing more than a palette swap in the multiplayer mode of DK Jr. Math, even if it does appear with DK. Jr. and Cranky. It's in the same situation Luigi was in in Mario Bros. Unless and until the pink DK Jr. appears in another game distinct from DK Jr. (i.e. not a palette swap as in Mario Tennis), it's not really a character and, by extension, not a member of the Kong family. Diddy and Donkey Kong nephew and uncle

this was never confirmed as far as I know. A Link to the Present 17:44, 8 April 2011 (EDT)

This[1] seems to confirm it, and if it's not authentic, nothing is. However, the DKC manual describes Diddy as DK's "nephew wannabe," and other sources refer to him as DK's "little buddy." Mario4Ever (talk) 18:14, 8 April 2011 (EDT)
The manual only says he is a "Donkey Kong wannabe" [2]. Who is the author of that website you linked to? Is it official? Fawfulfury65
I know what the manual says; I just mentioned it. Anyway, the site is Rare's official site (or at least it was...there's no DKC content on their current site[3]), copyrighted by the Microsoft Corporation in 2010. Mario4Ever (talk) 18:29, 8 April 2011 (EDT)
In that case, you should put the source in the article to avoid confusion in the future. Fawfulfury65
Done. Mario4Ever (talk) 18:44, 8 April 2011 (EDT)
Doesn't that contradict? The website says he really is the nephew, but the manual says he just wants to be? A Link to the Present 14:15, 9 April 2011 (EDT)
Yes, but the website's more official. If you load it like this, there's a copyright by Microsoft (Rare's current owners) dated 2010. However, there's no DK content on that page. Mario4Ever (talk) 14:21, 9 April 2011 (EDT)
Why should one be 'more official'? They're both equally as official. If you're a wannabe nephew, you're NOT a nephew. So we should state this originally, and then make a note if Microsoft retconned it. Tyciol 19:23, 15 January 2012 (EST)

Super Kong

It is noted on the Super Kong page that it has an affiliation with the Kong Family. Should we add it in the article? Akfamilyhome 08:44, 26 December 2011 (EST)

Where? I don't see it anywhere. --Metalex123 (talk) 19:57, 25 September 2014 (EDT)

Family tree

This no longer works. The only familial relation I recall is DK being Cranky's grandson. None of this stuff about Diddy being related too. Tyciol 19:21, 15 January 2012 (EST)

Merge maybe?

Aside from structure, what's the significant difference between this page and Kong? Some of the members on this page (specifically the allies) aren't even Kongs. Can the two be merged somehow? And is "Kong Family" an actual term used? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:37, April 5, 2019 (EDT)

The "Kong Family" is an actual term used in page 26 of both the Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest instruction booklets, and page 16 of the Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! instruction booklet. In the actual game credits, the first uses "The Kongs", the second uses "Kong Klan", and the third uses "Crucial Kongs". Kong Family refers to the main Kong group of family members and close friends, but yeah, two articles isn't necessary. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:46, April 5, 2019 (EDT)
Cranky uses "Kong clan" in the DK64 manual. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:48, April 5, 2019 (EDT)
And "DK crew" is used in the DK Rap. But, yeah, this can all easily be covered in the Kong article. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 13:50, April 5, 2019 (EDT)
I feel this article could easily be merged with the Kong article without losing necessary content, so I would support doing so. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 13:56, April 5, 2019 (EDT)
Since we now have the support of four users including two administrators, is it okay to merge this page now? Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 14:06, April 5, 2019 (EDT)
Should we go with "Kong Family" or "Kong"? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:08, April 5, 2019 (EDT)
I'd say go with "Kong" in case we decide to cover Kongs that blatantly aren't part of the Kong family (such as the Evil Kings). Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 14:13, April 5, 2019 (EDT)
