Staff Notes

Written by: MsRetroGeek (talk)

Hello, Dear Shroom' Readers! I hope you all have had an awesome February so far. I'm here to take over for Roserade this month.

There are some awesome sections that should be definitely worth trying out this month! If you're in the mood for unscrambling some words why not try your hand at Anagrams. It has a fitting theme of being about the latest Smash Fighter to join the Shroom' roster, Piranha Plant. That sounds like a pretty cool theme. Or take a look at some of the puzzle games like exploring through an adorable Smiley Flower to get to the end and try and do some Koopa hunting game. Why not try a brain teaser game to try and find Carmen Sandiego. There's just so much fun to be had here!

Give a big welcome back to Chester Alan Arthur (talk)! He's back to write a trivia quiz section for our enjoyment. Giving us some awesome trivial facts about an assortment of Mario facts. You may learn a thing or two from his section.

Section of the Month

Congratulations to FunkyK38 (talk) with doing an awesome job on setting up the perfect crime scene. Yoshi876 (talk) with a stunning array of questions from his quizzes that will be missed. LudwigVon (talk) with his clever game of hiding and seek. Well done to everyone who has done a great job in representing Fun Stuff. Thank you all so much for your votes. Please keep them coming! All of these sections are worthy of being chosen as SOTM, but it's up to you to choose!

Anagrams

Written by: BBQ Turtle (talk)

Hello everyone, and welcome to the February edition of anagrams! Firstly, I'd like to welcome Raregold and MsRetroGeek as the new director and sub-director- I'm sure you'll both do a brilliant job and look forward to you managing the 'Shroom this year. Secondly, of course, this month's theme is going to be Piranha Plants, seeing as one's recently joined the roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate- I don't think anyone saw that coming, I certainly didn't! Don't forget, if you have any suggestions for next month's theme or funny Mario-related anagrams that you've found that I could potentially work into a future issue, send me a message on my talk page or PM me on the forums, I'd love to hear from you. That's all I've got to say for now, so I'll leaf you with these anagrams (And no more terrible puns, I promise)!

How it works...

Basically, this puzzle consists of solving the anagrams. Each month has a specific theme, which will give you a clue about what sort of words or phrases the anagrams will be. I've also included the boxes that the anagrams will fit into, so you'll be able to tell how many words it will solve to be and how many letters will be in each word, which should give you a hand too. You'll also notice that within each set of boxes, one of the squares are yellow. As you solve each anagram, note down the letter which appears in the yellow squares, and if you can solve all of the anagrams, you'll also get a bonus anagram to solve from completing all of the others. I've included the letter configuration for this one at the bottom too, just to give you an extra helping hand. Best of luck!

It's aMAZEing

Written by: Lakituthequick (talk)

Welcome back to another wholesome It's aMAZEing!

Keeping somewhat up with the monthly themes, February and this weekend are designated to Valentine's day. Legend has it that this usually involves hearts and flowers and the like, so we're going for a Smiley Flower from the Yoshi's Island series today!

Do you have an idea for a maze you'd like to see? Leave a message on my talkpage or find me on the forums and send me a personal message, and your idea and name may be featured in a future episode!

How to play:

  • Copy the image into your favourite art program (like Paint, Photoshop, GIMP, etc.)
  • Click the line, pencil or brush tool and adjust the size as needed
  • Draw your line though the maze from start to finish
  • Zoom in and out as needed

Alternatively, print it out and use a pencil!

Hiding Koopas

Koopa Troopa from Mario Kart 8.
WANTED!

Ready for another Koopa hunt? Hello everyone, and I'm here again with Hiding Koopas! If this is the first time you play this game, I will explain the goal of the game, which is simple by the way. There are five Koopa Troopas hidden in the picture below, and you must find them all. Sounds easy? Prove me that you are able to find them all!

For this month's artwork, you may be aware that I love RPGs in general, but one that caught my attention recently was the Nintendo Switch game Xenoblade Chronicles 2 from Monolith Soft. This game is fantastic! There are so many memorable characters, a splendid world to discover, a DLC prequel that really worth it, and Mòrag... Mòrag, the Flamebringer! She's the best character in the game in my opinion. She's even better than my Ludwig von Koopa, really. If you like RPGs, please, give this game a chance.

So, you understand now that this month's artwork will be from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Now, find me those cute little Koopas!

Where in the Marioverse is Carmen Sandiego?

Written by: FunkyK38 (talk)

HOW TO PLAY

Each issue, you will be given a case to solve and clues to use to help you find the solution! Use your Mario knowledge to crack the case!

You will begin each case at the scene of the crime, and you will be given three clues from passerby as to where the next hot spot is and what game it’s from. Using your knowledge of Mario games and the Super Mario Wiki, figure out where the crook is and go track them down! There are four locations each round: the crime scene (1) at the start, two locations (2 and 3) with clues, and the hideout for the crook of the month (4). Answers for locations will be given with the corresponding round, for example, the clues from the crime scene will lead you to location 2, and once you open the spoiler bubbles for location 2, you will be given the correct answer. You can open the clues for each location in any order you’d like, but be careful! You may encounter an incorrect clue that could throw you off the case!

Clues offered will give you a hint either about the next location or the game it’s in. Unlike a regular Carmen Sandiego game, you do not have to collect information about the crook you are tracking down.

Challenge round (optional):

-Find all locations and games correctly in two minutes or less

-Find all locations and games correctly without using the rest of the Wiki for help

Trivia

Written by: Chester Alan Arthur (talk)

Rejoice, 'Shroom readers, for the tyrant known as Meta Knight with that dastardly Blocky have been removed from power! We can now welcome in the new administration of Raregold and Geeky, and with that I have returned to writing the section that I was put on this Earth to write. Enough about destinies and power struggles, did you know?

  1. That Paper Mario originally started development as a sequel to Super Mario RPG?
  2. That Mario Tennis: Power Tour is the only game that features Waluigi but not Wario as a playable character?
  3. That Super Mario 128 was the basis for Pikmin?
  4. That Mario’s original name was Jumpman?
  5. That Mario and Luigi are actually taken to the wrong people at the end of 'Super Mario World 2?
  6. That Ludwig von Koopa is the only Koopaling in Super Mario World with a unique boss fight?
  7. That King K Rool built the robot Kaos out of his wife's pots and pans?
  8. That according to the comic "Mario in Mariozilla", Mario and Kamek are secretly friends?
