Gimme Frog Coins

Aren't these Frog Coins, (Super Mario RPG), i mean they are both green and you collect them. I'm pretty sure they are.

The Frog Coins are money you can spend, while the Green Coins are just coins in a platformer game.

Split Green Coin and Green Star Coin (Super Mario 3D World)?

That's because the developers of 3D World had Galaxy 2 in mind when creating the Green Stars. On the other hand, I don't think Mario Run's developers had the Mario Maker Pink Coins in mind when creating the Pink Coins in the former game. I very much doubt that the developers of Super Mario 3D World didn't have New Super Mario Bros. U in mind because the gameplay roles of the two are nearly identical: touch a ring and collect corresponding coins within a time limit. The practical differences are the amount, pattern, and reward, but those factors can also vary with Blue Coins and Red Coins depending on the game. The designs are different as well, but so are the coins from Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine (the former of which are the aforementioned "Star Coins"). If Green Star Coin splits, it should take Green Star Ring with it, whose function is even closer as it's simply the trigger mechanism. LinkTheLefty (talk) 16:28, 16 December 2018 (EST)

The purpose of the SM3DW ones seem more like a red coin combined with a key coin to me, simply being green to indicate their relation to Green Stars than just to differentiate from red coins, like in NSMBU. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:01, 16 December 2018 (EST)

I'm still on the fence since I think it would just be incongruent with how we currently treat the Yellow, Blue and Red Star Coins from Super Mario 64, but if I'm really alone on this one, then I guess we can go ahead with it. Though I want to point out that the proposed split should actually merge with the existing Green Star Coin article for consistency with the other unsplit Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition subjects (for instance, look at the other Skill Items: Comet Medal, Fruit, Gold Mushroom, Star Coin and Super Star are all preestablished, so it stands to reason that Green Star Coin is meant to be Super Mario 3D World's Green Coin). I don't think these Green Coins should be split. That would be like splitting Red Coins due to a game having them produce a star. Due to the aspects of P&DSMBE, I wouldn't mind merging Green Star Coin here either. But if you refer to the Red Coins of both games, the NSMBU Green Coins are more closer than SM3DW Green Coins. But, then again, Green Stars didn't appear in NSMBU. Either way, the NSMBU Green Coins will reappear in NSMBUDX. If they're called Green Star Coins in that game, that should stop any kind of merge, but if they don't, then a proposal should be done deciding on what to do with them.
