Sluggy

Sluggy from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island These spots are very much red and not pink. And due to it very deliberately shading into a light-yet-saturated lavender, it's pretty safe to assume they're intended to be a very light-tinted, iridescent, pinkish hue. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:54, 3 July 2018 (EDT)

I'm the one who uploaded the YNI image, actually, but it's not terrifically relevant, as, for instance, Bouncing Bullet Bills went from yellow-orange to green between those games, and Harry Hedgehog went from light blue to purple. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:05, 3 July 2018 (EDT)
Note how the same page gives Barney Bubble a white head with red feet, gives Kamek a paper-white face, and makes Fang purple with red wings. And those spots aren't pink, they're a desaturated red. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:13, 3 July 2018 (EDT)

Re:Yoshi's New Island

I beg your pardon? Use them how? (Addendum: No I do not, sorry.) Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 05:45, 5 July 2018 (EDT)

I don't know, these sometimes require precision, particularly on smaller pages, and artwork takes priority for infobox anyway. I mean, you can, but it may be difficult to do it well. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 05:49, 5 July 2018 (EDT)
Indeed it does, but I can't exactly do anything about that. As previously discussed, the art for that game was often lazily-colored. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 06:00, 5 July 2018 (EDT)

Roger Lift

Roger Lift really shouldn't need a proposal, since they were only merged to begin with since it was convenient, and they are clearly very different things. And no, IPs cannot vote or start proposals. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:03, 9 July 2018 (EDT)

As for Coin Bandit? I'm doing my best here, YNI is on my priorities list, but it's not the ultimate thing on it. Still though, thanks for finding that Shogakukan, knowing that there is more art for the game out there and that most of the "high quality" art is more than likely from SMA3 puts me at ease a bit. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:13, 9 July 2018 (EDT)
By the way, check out Category:Yoshi's New Island Images if you haven't already, there were some Shogakukan pages uploaded that had small pictures of the enemies. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:20, 9 July 2018 (EDT)
Nope, sorry. Do you remember any levels they appeared in? That would certainly help me acquired them....but then again, I've been using YouTube instead of emulator, as I don't emulate games I don't have from systems after the GBA for moral reasons. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:58, 9 July 2018 (EDT)
Yeah, that's me. Thing about models, particularly in that game, is that in-game effects affect how the models look very much. Note how the bare models completely lack the oil paint aesthetic they have in-game. Colors are typically added by textures, though some games actually seem to use a color filter (look at Super Mario Sunshine's models, for example. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:30, 9 July 2018 (EDT)

Re:Solo Toady found

I don't think it appeared in the video I watched, they must not have triggered it. Then again, that was quite a while ago. Might try again or watch another to see if I can find it.

On an unrelated note, I formerly used the YNI Zeus Guy render from TMR as a Discord avatar...but don't anymore.

Have a look-see here at what I did, if you're interested. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:04, 13 July 2018 (EDT)

Thanks, I plan on making a sheet for all my sprite edits eventually, but it'll take time. Currently, I'm moving the SMA3 boss artwork from the SMW2 gallery to the SMA3 one, and dealing with all related links. I have more sprites in this forum thread right now. You can use them if you want, but I'd like to be given credit and be told what they're being used for. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:14, 13 July 2018 (EDT)
Those fluid objects such as Salvo in the game are made using a rather bizarre triangle graphic that is manipulated by the Super FX chip, as seen here. The same technique is used to build the "3D" things in the original Star Fox. What I'm saying is that I don't know if I'll be able to make sprites for Salvo. As for why I made Harry Hedgehog look like Porcupo, its original Japanese name was the same as Porcupo's, and its current Japanese name translated roughly to "Super Porcupo." Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:27, 13 July 2018 (EDT)
The Hootie is nowhere near finished. That's why its lips look like that. I also made Spiked Fun Guy (the green one) a distinct thing, even though odds are pretty likely it was just a one-shot off-model version of the regular Pokey. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:36, 13 July 2018 (EDT)
It's literally on Nintendo's site.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:55, 13 July 2018 (EDT)

The vectoring in the artwork

That's a combination of the Super FX sprite rotation along with certain image software to make jagged edges smoother, more than likely. In practice, it typically turns out rather cruddy. Anyways, regarding the actual artwork's coloring, it was all colored rather lazily for that game, so official artwork is still official artwork. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:01, 18 July 2018 (EDT)

Dancing Spear Guys have actually had green stripes earlier than that, in multiple Mario Party appearances, and Template:Media link, anyways. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:26, 18 July 2018 (EDT)
Then they didn't "receive a redesign" for YNI, they inherited their most recent design, which can be said for a variety of recurring enemies in the game. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:35, 18 July 2018 (EDT)
