- During the credits of Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 for the Game Boy, Gunpei Yokoi's (pictured) name is spelled as "Gumpei Yokoi", which reflects the pronunciation of his name.
- In Donkey Kong Country Returns and its 3DS port, in the level Shifty Smashers, there are falling blocks with imprints of an 8-bit Donkey Kong and Fire.
- During the development of Diddy Kong Racing DS, Tiny Kong was supposed to appear in her original look from Donkey Kong 64 before she was redesigned into her current appearance, as the sprite seen when ranking the players after a race shows Tiny with her original look.
- The Triforce Cup is the only cup in the Mario Kart series to have a Rainbow Road course that is not the final race of the cup.
