I think the "lion" is a Qilin
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 179.157.99.53 (talk).
I'm pretty sure the cat statue is an Olmec-style Jaguar. The level is a new world desert, so I think it's more likely it's based off of American culture.

The "Purple Circular Collectibles" are clearly nuts.
As in nuts and bolts.
Nuts.

I think the supporting character that appears to be a lion is in fact a Gao from Super Mario Land.
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ckoune (talk).
Also, there are some misplaced modifyers:
- Hammer Bros wearing chef hats that throw frying pans
- Small tanks wearing top hats that spit bullets
It should say "Hammer Bros that wear chef hats and throw frying pans" and "Small tanks that wear top hats and spit bullets". --166.137.14.51 23:04, 16 January 2017 (EST)
Globe Oddities
The planet on the box art is clearly Earth, but the globe seen in the trailer has different continents. Anyone know what it could mean?
EDIT: the box art was a parody. Nevermind, then.-- 20:46, 13 January 2017 (EST)
An action-adventure game?
The Super Mario platform games have never belonged to the action-adventure genre in the past, the are solely for the platform genre. Is there an official confirmation from Nintendo this game is actually categorized as an action-adventure game? I remember Nintendo saying it is an open world game and obviously still belongs to the platform genre but nothing about action-aventure. This ain't a Zelda game.

Forest/Lake/Metallic Structures location
The article says there are these three locations:
- A forest
- A waterfall and stream
- An area with a lake and metallic structures
- A circular area with flowers where one of the rabbit characters is fought
- A reddish metallic tower
If you watch the trailer closely, however, you'll notice they're all the same level. --166.137.102.80 01:32, 15 January 2017 (EST)
- No word on editing this in the article? :/ --166.137.14.51 23:04, 16 January 2017 (EST)
- How can you tell that their all in the same level. We need details and sources because this is a new game and people could easily mislead us since we can't play the game ourselves. I'm not accusing you of that, but we need more than "watch closely"
- (--) 18:38, 19 January 2017 (EST)
- From what I can tell, there appears to be two forests. One dark and another light. This could be just the time of day though. But then again it could not be. It is up to the reader whether or not it is true. Until the final game is released, there is no way to tell whether they are truly different or not. Yoshi the SSM (talk) 18:45, 19 January 2017 (EST)
- Nintendo mentioned "the forest" but not "the forests". At the beginning of the trailer, you can see a sign that has that rusty tower (aka "reddish metallic tower" and "metallic structures" as they're all rusty) and the watercan robot (it also says "Kogwald"). Each of those three supposed levels have the same type of grass and the same type of trees. The "area with a lake and metallic structures" has a stream that is the same width as the forest with "a waterfall and stream". It would make sense if following the waterfall and stream lead you to the lake. The scene with the upside down flower pot enemies makes this very apparent: you have the trees from the waterfall/stream forest and a reddish metallic tower which is the same type as the metallic structures at the lake. Finally, New Donk City and the Mexican town/desert having different times of day shows that it's the same forest whether it's day or night.--166.170.0.53 23:24, 20 January 2017 (EST)
- Sorry that I reply only now, effectively, the trailer at the beginning introduces the levels that are then presented throughout the trailer. Unfortunately, the watering robots are not seen in the lake with the metallic structures, so it can be guessed that they are the same location since they are both in a forest, but we cannot be sure. I can only confirm that the metallic tower is found in the lake zone, as the glassy wall can be seen from the lake zone.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:56, 26 January 2017 (EST)

Gallery Page for SMO
It looks we're getting a lot of Screencaps from this game. Do you think we can have a gallery page for the article now? --LTIan (talk) 18:14, 1 February 2017 (EST)
- I'm actually uploading the screenshots from the game's trailer Nintendo published on Twitter. I managed to obtain it and so I can do frame-by-frame advancements, save the indiviual frames as PNG files and then upload them here. I don't know if you would like me to upload more frames of that video. If you do, we can consider making a gallery page right now, the game will have its gallery page anyway.--Mister Wu (talk) 18:23, 1 February 2017 (EST)

Quartet of Rabbits in Formal Clothing
I'm getting curious about those rabbit bosses, Do the four of them have official names at all or is Shigeru Miyamoto so absent-minded that he forgot to name them all? --Harold Roxby (talk) 00:46, 16 February 2017 (EST)

Lyrics
A lot of the lyrics listed on the page appear to be misheard. Multiple listens to the song yield that these are at least somewhat closer to the actual lyrics in the song.
Here we go
Off the rails
Don'tcha know it's time to raise our sails?
It's freedom like you never knew~
Don't need bags
Or a pass
Say the word, I'll be there in a flash!
You could say my hat is off to you~
Oh, we can zoom all the way to the moon
From this great wide, wacky world
Jump with me! Grab coins with me! Oh yeah!
It's time to jump up in the air! (jump up in the air)
Jump up don't be scared! (jump up don't be scared)
Jump up and your cares will soar away~
And if the dark clouds start to swirl (dark clouds start to swirl)
Don't fear to shed a tear 'cuz
I'll be your 1-Up girl~
So let's all jump up super high! (jump up super high)
High up in the sky! (high up in the sky)
There's no power-up like dancing~
You know that you're my super star (you're my super star)
Now one else can take me this far
I'm flipping the switch
Get ready for this
Oh, let's do the Odyssey~
Odyssey, ya see (x7)
Odyssey, Odyssey~
Spin the wheel
Take a chance
Every journey starts a new romance
A new world's calling out to you~
Take a turn
Off the path
Find a new addition to the cast
Ya know that any captain needs a crew~
Take it in stride, as you move side-to-side
They're just different points of view
Jump with me! Grab coins with me! Oh yeah!
Come on and jump up in the air! (jump up in the air)
Jump without a care! (jump without a care)
Jump up 'cuz you know that I'll be there~
And if you find you're short on joy (find you're short on joy)
Don't fret, just don't forget that
You're still our 1-Up boy~
So go on, straighten up your cap! (straighten up your cap)
Let your toes begin to tap! (toes begin to tap)
This rhythm is a Power Shroom~
Don't forget you're the super star (you're the super star)
No one else can make it this far
Run a comb through that 'stache
Now you've got panache
Oh, let's do the Odyssey~
It's time to jump up in the air! (jump up in the air)
Jump up don't be scared! (jump up don't be scared)
Jump up and your cares will soar away~

All around the world! (all around the world)
Don't be afraid to get up and move~
You know that we're all super stars (we're all super stars)
We're the ones who made it this far
Put a smile on that face
There's no time to waste
Oh, let's do the Odyssey~
Stuff to add
Theres a new area in the game: Look at the cheep cheep scene in the trailer. Thats a new water area. Also, the Sand Kingdom is called Tostareena. Dont forget how when you collect a moon, it just jumps to the next mission, theres no mission select, although moons can be collected out of order. Dont forget about that dark village seen in the trailer, too. Also, ya know how they said stickers can be bought? Well check this out: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sSVcuI0WXq0 Does this mean Peachs Castle will be a level?

Description problems
The description at the very top talks about how Mario's hat "may be alive" instead of directly referencing Cappy's character. (I'm a new member so I can't edit it myself) -Jonaho23
- Thanks, it's fixed now.
Topper
In the latest E3 presentation, during the fight with Harriet at the end of the SMO presentation, the hosts talk about their favorite Brudals. One of them mentions a Brudal by name, Topper, the short one with the green suit. Should Topper be added to the page? Or should we wait for more than a mention?
(--) 10:49, 14 June 2017 (EDT)
- Even though we don't know the exact spelling, it's clear that the green Broodal is named Topper, so I added him. Thanks for telling us!--Mister Wu (talk) 21:06, 16 June 2017 (EDT)
enemy list errors
The "map" poster we use for a source of the Kingdom names and their main areas also give us many enemy names, such as "Goomba", "Bullet Bill", etc. If this is as reliable as we believe it to be, then we should change the source for "Frog" being an enemy to this poster, as the trailer it is currently sourced to has no implication that the frog is an enemy, whilst the poster lists it as one. We should also remove the T-Rex [as it is labelled on the poster] from supporting characters and to the enemy list, as the poster lists it as another enemy. Maybe we should also list the enemy names on the poster as well, which as sort of been done, due to the inclusion of Fire Bros and Chargin' Chucks on the enemy list. So, quite a bit of editing to do! 86.161.221.118 11:20, 15 June 2017 (EDT)
- I'm inclined to agree with you. I also believe we should combine the "Supporting Cast" and "Non-Playable Characters" sections together, like on the Super Mario 3D World page. NPCs and Supporting Cast seem to be one-and-the-same to me. What are your thoughts on that? Nintendo101 (talk) 14:50, 15 June 2017 (EDT)
I don't know how to edit on here, but for the foreign names section, there needs to be an apostrophe in "Maliou" so it becomes "Mali'ou" because of syllable boundary technicalities in pinyin. I omitted the tonal markings for convenience.

1 and 3 UP Hearts
the japanese odyssey twitter talked about those hearts with screenshots->https://twitter.com/mario_odysseyJP/status/875601500684247040 Would someone add it to the page for me, since I am not sure where tehy'd go best...?User:Ashley anEoTselkie/sig
- The first one is a regular heart that restores one wedge of health, and the second is the Life-Up Heart that increases max health by 3. Both are already on the page. Mario JC 06:40, 18 June 2017 (EDT)
Two other Broodals
There is one in purple named Harriet, and one in green named Topper, but what about the one in Blue and the tall one in orange? do they deserve names as well? Harold Roxby (talk) 14:02, 21 June 2017 (EDT)
Kingdom Names
Sand Kingdom before Metro Kingdom?
One thing I've discovered while searching for footage is about the Slots minigame. It appears that the Slots will appear in every Kingdom. Or at least they appear in both Metro and Sand Kingdoms.
The thing, in Sand Kingdom, the minigame has 3 wheels,[1] while in Metro Kingdom the minigame has 4 wheels.[2] So if the Slots minigame is harder in New Donk City than it is in Tostarena, could this be because Sand Kingdom will actually come before Metro Kingdom?
I know it seems weird, considering in general New Donk City seems to be more an easier tutorial stage, but that's one point for that theory.
What we know about the Odyssey Ship
If anybody wants to add information about the Odyssey ship to the article, I will list some of the things we know about the ship.
These facts come from the official Russian twitter on Super Mario Odyssey, but I'm pretty sure all these facts are on the Japanese page as well.
- Mario can decorate the Odyssey using things he purchases from Crazy Cap store.[3]
- The Odyssey's door doesn't have a door handle. Mario must either throw Cappy at the door to open it, or enter via an exaust pipe.[4]
- The bright lights of the Odyssey allow flying even in the darkest nights.[5]
- The mysteryous Mast of the Odyssey grows bigger with Power Moons, allowing Mario to travel further.[6]
- The exterior of the Odyssey is made from aluminum.[7]
Kingdom names in Russian
- Metro Kingdom - Городское царство.[8]
- Sand Kingdom - Песчаное царство.
- Luncheon Kingdom - Кулинарное царство.[9]

Why is this game rated E10+?
This is so fair the only main Mario game to be rated E10+ by ESRB. Do you have any reason why?

- We're not the ones that decide what the game is rated :P No, as far as I'm aware, the ESRB has not given a listing of what to expect in the game that could effect the rating. 12:47, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

UI Changes
Gamescom footage has shown a few changes to the game's UI, including a monitor showing the number of Power Moons available in a Kingdom, as well as how many have been found.[1] How should this be addressed in the Kingdom table, as well as the individual Kingdom pages?
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Argonstorm32 (talk).

Seaside Kingdom
Is the name of the kingdom "Seaside Kindom" or "Spacide Kingdom"? In the source provided for "Spacide Kingdom", while it slightly resembles a "p", it also looks like it could be a body of water behind the "e", causing it to resemble a "p". --TheFlameChomp (talk) 20:52, 23 August 2017 (EDT)
- To me (going by this source), it looks like "Seaside Kingdom". It's a bit stylized, but it resembles the "E" above it in "Luncheon Kingdom". Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:08, 23 August 2017 (EDT)

Was the 1080p setting there before? Must have missed it before, but it definitely looks like "Seaside Shore" at that resolution. Mario JC 08:38, 24 August 2017 (EDT)
- I'm adamant that it says Spaside. I'm looking at this, which shows a looped P.
- Shokora (talk · edits) 23:08, 26 August 2017 (EDT)
- The lower rung of the E is hooked. Since it's over what looks like a patch of water, it's partially masked by the background, but compare it to the E in the nearby Luncheon Kingdom. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 23:11, 26 August 2017 (EDT)
I still stand by "Seaside", as the "E" looks very much like the one at the end of the word, and in the word "Luncheon", as TT said. Mario JC 23:54, 26 August 2017 (EDT)
- Pretty sure that's an "E" and the smudge below it is an island. Looks very similar to the "E" in the same word. Also, if you take a look at where this screencap is on the World Atlas image, you can see an island directly under where the "E" would be placed. Not sure if that helps any, but hey, there's an island. 00:02, 27 August 2017 (EDT)
Chef Bro
Have I missed something obvious, or did they ever refer to the skillet-throwing Hammer Bros as "Chef Bros"? Mario JC 05:57, 31 August 2017 (EDT)

Mushroom Kingdom Wedding Item?
In the "Kingdoms" section, is it safe to assume that Peach is the Wedding Item? I know that Peach isn't exactly an "Item", but Bowser's going to each kingdom to get stuff for his wedding, and he also kidnapped Peach from the Mushroom Kingdom. I'd say it's pretty safe to assume that Peach is the Wedding "Item" from the Mushroom Kingdom. Should I add it in? -- 22:46, 13 September 2017 (EDT)
Enemy Names
This is technically speculation, but I think I can back this up. The names on the map showed prominent enemy names? Well they match up logically with enemies we've seen by now.
Burrbo: The Hedgehog-looking enemy. It's covered in burrs, and has a similar body structure and mouth to a Kuribo. Furthermore, the locations match up.
Glydon: The Saurian glider. It glides, and is based off of a Pterodon. The only thing that doesn't match is the location, but it could very well be multi-localled, as many enemies seem to be.
Gushen: The purple octopuses, which seem to be the most prominent enemy in the Seaside Kingdom, given how often they appeared, and appear to have a boss version atop a stack. Furthermore, their attack pattern (and Mario's gained ability) is to gush water from them to move at high speeds through various "terrains".
Just wanted to throw this out here. Should the article be changed, or is it to speculative? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:47, 14 September 2017 (EDT)
- In my opinion you can add the names, but as Unknown until we receive the confirmation of their actual role in the game.--Mister Wu (talk) 19:56, 14 September 2017 (EDT)

These kinds of interesting observations are usually added on the page of the enemies, to point out the likely reason why a name was chosen, so you can add them there when said pages will exist. - Sorry, I didn't notice what you wrote about Glydon and pteranodons. There are many animals - mostly the extinct ones - whose names ends with -odon, said suffix means tooth in Greek and thus it is used for animals that have been named after the aspect of the teeth. Among the many examples, Pteranodon is without any doubt a notorious one, but Iguanodon is known too, and would be already nearer to what Glydon is. Since Glydon's name only has the -don suffix, and since the gliding part is already covered by the first part of the name, thus making it unnecessary to reference flying with the suffix, it is very difficult to know which was the animal they had in mind when they named the character, and I would leave that out unless it is officially confirmed. Sorry for not noticing this aspect and telling you about that the first time.--Mister Wu (talk) 20:36, 5 October 2017 (EDT)
- It looks vaguely like a Pteranodon, since it has those arm flaps. So I assumed that was where it came from. Since Pteranodon's name means "Wings, no teeth," and Glydon lacks teeth as well....are we sure Glydon's a lizard, and not just a generic reptilian creature (with wings)? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:39, 5 October 2017 (EDT)
- In the only video that was allowed by Nintendo to introduce him he's presented as a flying lizard, effectively those membranes are common among flying lizards, not ot say that Pteranodons have wings in plavce of proper hands, which is clearly not the case of Glydon. Of course, there is always some reinterpretation, Glydon being ultimately a fictional character, but we usually go with the most similar animal species. If Nintendo will provide us with the actual species, we'll update the page. On this aspect, the Japanese site currently doesn't state anything about his species, I think we'll have to wait for the game's guides or the in-game text.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:01, 5 October 2017 (EDT)

Mystery Kingdom with lizard-thing and poison water actually Lake Kingdom
As Gamexplain recently pointed out in their Odyssey direct footage analysis, the purple/poison water is definitely a lake and it's could be assumed that since all the other kingdom's land masses seem to be based around key elements of that kingdom the Mystery Kingdom would fit perfectly as the Lake Kingdom as the Lake Kingdom resembles a tropical tree, Whivh the Mystery Kingdom seems to be full of. I'm nearly 100% Certain that they're both one in the same but what do you guys think? Seandwalsh (talk) 19:33, 15 September 2017 (EDT)
I don't think so. The Lake Kingdom is well above the area in the shape of palm trees, which would've been the tropical area seen in the latest trailer.

Leaked footage, do we trust it?
Footage of SMO has been leaked. My question is, do we trust it and add its info to the article? For example,
1) Cap Kingdom's regional coins are hats
2) It doesn't seem like Mario will be collecting Power Moons in the Cap Kingdom
3) Mario will need to collect 12 or less Power Moons in the Seaside Kingdom
4) More costume descriptions
5) new Power Moon location in the Luncheon Kingdom
Here's a video of various leaked footage.
Do we trust this info?

Forgotten Isle - another possible location
https://youtu.be/6CojEQ50Os0?t=6m42s
Considering Fossil Falls, Lake Lamode and Bubblaine are all locations in the game, I am pretty sure Forgotten Isle is also going to be a location. Maybe one of the smaller, non-kingdom locations? I guess it's not enought evidence of us to add this yet, but let's keep it in mind.
- I think that the Forgotten Isle is that unnamed tropical kingdom mentioned in the 9/13 Direct, as I highly doubt anyone would be able to reach that area due to the poison water surrounding it, hence why it's forgotten. -WaluigiSquad11

New Kingdom? Lake Kingdom?
What could this be? Is it something we could add to the article?
- It might just be a secret area in the Cascade Kingdom or the kingdom with the Forgotten Isle, judging from the Power Moon's colour, but I think we should wait until there's more information about this place first. Mario JC 02:37, 8 October 2017 (EDT)
The game will have between 15 and 20 kingdoms, most likely
So there are 43 souvenirs to buy at the Crazy Cap store. And from what we know ao far, every Kingdom will have a CC store, and every CC store will sell 1 sticker and 2 souvenir models. Depending on if stickers count as souvenirs or not, that's around 2 or 3 souvenirs per kingdom. That should give us a rought estimate on the lenght of the game
- If stickers count as souvenirs (so 3 souvenirs per kingdom), and assuming that there is 1 souvenir that's like a 100%-completion souvenir, then there are 42 to account for. Divide by 3, and that only points towards 14 kingdoms. MarioComix (talk) 18:00, 14 October 2017 (EDT)

Leaked Kingdom List
I've seen many mentions of a Cloud Kingdom, Lost Kingdom, Ruined Kingdom and Moon Kingdom in various leak topics on forums (like GameFAQs and 4chan), and a few pictures like this one show them too:
(Note that this isn't all the kingdoms, there are apparently postgame areas too)
So, does anyone have footage from the stream confirming this? And if so, should we add them to the kingdom list on the main page?

Lost Kingdom is just Forgotten Isle's Kingdom name (Like Sand Kingdom is to Tostarena). We've seen footage of it. It's the jungle-like area with the sea of purple goo.
Ruined Kingdom (I believe the area was called Crumbledin, or something to that effect) is the gothic/medieval place we saw in the Nintendo World Championships.

Hammer Bros
So since this seems to be worth of a discussion, let's discuss this following issue here: We know that Hammer Bros are currently presented in two ways: Luncheon Kingdom with frying hats and frying pans instead of hammers, and Dark Side with their normal hammer appearance. The Luncheon Kingdom version is currently listed as "new enemy", something I don't quite get, because they behave like other Hammer Bros, just that they throw pans instead of hammers. Unless the game specifies them to be some kind of "Pan Bros", I don't see them being a new enemy, just a variation that isn't actually a new enemy. The capture target list should give us clarification, cause if they are listed as Hammer Bros, they... are, well, Hammer Bros. And I think the currently listed Hammer Bros are in fact from the Luncheon Kingdom. What to do about this? --Wolf (talk) 05:40, 27 October 2017 (EDT)
- Weapons are not hats. That's my view on it. And they've been called "Hammer Brothers" in both Japanese and English, why would they still be Hammer Bros if they throw something different? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 05:57, 27 October 2017 (EDT)
- They have been named "Hammer Brothers" in Super Mario Bros. 3 as well, that's nothing unusual. Lakitus are also known to throw different things across games, and yet they are all classified as Lakitu. And I think they have a bigger variety in the weapons they used: Gūrindais, Spinies, exploding "eggs", rolling eggs. Same story with a number of other enemies. I guess we'll see what the game says when everyone can actually play it, instead of relying on leaks. I'd still go with keeping Hammer Bros. in returning enemies for now though, and splitting them up into new and returning, in case they are, in fact, a different species. Wolf (talk)
- You're missing my point. Lakitus aren't called "Spiny Egg-Throwers," so what you just said is beyond moot. My point is that Hammer Brothers have always. Thrown. Hammers. Hence the name. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 07:48, 27 October 2017 (EDT)
- The Prima guide calls both the hammer-throwing and pan-throwing variants "Hammer Bros." Hello, I'm Time Turner. 12:39, 27 October 2017 (EDT)
- OK then. Now we can have that type as a foot note instead of a separate point. My point was, for a thing like that when we have no official word, it's generally best to assume they're different if the name seems outright illogical had they been the same. Unless of course "Hammer" has some colloquial usage regarding cooking I don't know about, which is entirely possible. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:10, 27 October 2017 (EDT)
- In german, they're called "Hammer-Brüder" ingame, which means "Hammer Bros. ". And in fact, they behave identical to hammer-throwing Hammer Bros, except that their projectiles are pans and that they wear chef hats instead of their usual helmets. In my opinion they shouldn't be listed as new enemies, maybe as a new variant of a returning enemy. Semako (talk) 10:29, 29 October 2017 (EDT)

Assist Mode

— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.70.45.192 (talk).
- Usually articles for modes are only created when there is enough information for them to be split from the main articles, such as Battle Mode. If there isn't enough information for its own article, a section about Assist Mode can be made on this page. --TheFlameChomp (talk) 21:38, 2 November 2017 (EDT)
- Well, as far as I know, in Assist Mode, the following details are:
- 1) It adds twice as much as health for Mario and the Life-Up Heart still gives him 3 more health meters thereby making it 9.
- 2) Every time Mario falls down into the bottomless pit, he loses only one meter of health as a bubble forms around him and picks him back up to where he was before falling only when his health has 2 meters or more. Works the same with lava and poison waters. However, Assist Mode sometimes won't help whenever Mario is in some places where you must strategically grab more Power Moons without falling, such as going down in Moon Pipes. Also, it doesn't protect Mario from getting flattened. The life-saving bubble could be a reference to the one as seen in the Comet Observatory every time Mario and/or Luigi fall off it from Super Mario Galaxy.
- 3) Standing still for about five seconds regenerates Mario's health.
- 4) Other than having 6 health meters, the "Assist Mode" logo is shown on the bottom right-handed corner.
- 5) According to one of the Koopa Troopas of the Roving Racers, Assist Mode will be turned off during Koopa Freerunning but will turn back on after either Mario wins, loses or quits the race.
- 6) Assist Mode increases the timer to last twice as long in time-based challenges.
- 7) Assist Mode gives Mario unlimited air supply while he is underwater.
- 8) Assist Mode works in all different Kingdoms, including the Dark and Darker Sides.
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.70.45.192 (talk).- I feel that could work as a section on this page, as there are several larger modes that are covered on game articles. --TheFlameChomp (talk) 06:54, 3 November 2017 (EDT)

Question about the brochure descriptions
When writing up the in-game brochure descriptions (example), where should the tiny bottom-left sections go? (Here's one of the brochures if you haven't played the game.) Most of the ones written up so far have listed them as the third section, which may seem logical, but I quickly realized this doesn't work when I wrote up the Dark Side's brochure descriptions. Most of the sections on that brochure are profiles for the Broodals, while the bottom-left section ("One Last Door") hints at what happens after they're defeated, and having that come right in the middle of all of the Broodal profiles doesn't make sense. So I put it at the bottom, but they could also be listed above the "Three Keys to the Kingdom" sections that every brochure has (the Cloud Kingdom article did it that way before this edit). The order of the sections should be consistent across all of the kingdom articles, so which should it be? 14:23, 12 November 2017 (EST)
- At this point you can put the section at the bottom, before the Three Keys to the Kingdom. In the longer term we might anyway aim at using the actual sprites used by the game, as they contain the map and the images with the captions, which contain useful information (Dorries written in plural appears in a caption).--Mister Wu (talk) 15:15, 12 November 2017 (EST)

Hello, the dog which Mario can find almost everywhere is very similar in either animation and sound design from the shiba inu's from Nintendogs + Cats. Like this and this one. Anyone agree? My only 'on the eye' visual difference is, is that its fur is solid in odyssey, and soft in Nintendogs. Thought I'd put it here. --YeeMeYee (talk) 10:49, 27 November 2017 (EST)
- The Shiba Inu is very common in Japan, though, so I'd expect such a dog in a Japanese game. It should be seen if the similarities are just due to both games featuring a realistic dog, or if there are unique traits that that explicitly reference the dog from said game.--Mister Wu (talk) 13:31, 27 November 2017 (EST)
- You can also make them wear hats in that game, so I feel that would strengthen the connection. Plus you can play Frisbee with the dog just like you can in the Nintendogs series. Sandbox
It's the same type of thing as Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine in that it's mostly sandboxy, but with some levels that are linear Bowser in the Dark World, for example. However, it's not as sandboxy as Donkey Kong 64 (which only had Hideout Helm as a "linear" level, and even then, the challenges for unlocking the doors could be done in any order) and definitely not as much as Minecraft. So, is it a sandbox style? The answer is yes, just not the ultimate level of sandbox. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:02, 29 November 2017 (EST)
- I think the point of contention is whether the term sandbox is understandable for the readers. I think Nintendo used it to distinguish Super Mario Odyssey, a game based on various sub-worlds separated one from the others, from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, an actual open-world game with just one main world, so I support the use of the term, but I'm not from a country with English as first language, so I don't know how much this term is understandable or creates confusion instead.--Mister Wu (talk) 06:21, 29 November 2017 (EST)

In the references to other games section for Mario 64 costumes with the number 64 are references to the game, but now that I think about it...... wouldn't that not belong there as that would be a reference to the system not the game right?Pikmin theories (talk) 20:01, 9 April 2018 (EDT)
- Well, yeah, I think it could go either way. Let's see other users' opinions on this. (T|C) 20:19, 9 April 2018 (EDT)
- Much depends if they are referencing a baseball game for the Nintendo 64. Otherwise I think it's much more likely that they are referencing Super Mario 64 as the developers always stressed how Super Mario Odyssey follows the sandbox-style level design of that game.--Mister Wu (talk) 18:33, 10 April 2018 (EDT)
The football has 64 on it too.... but I don't see how it's a reference to Mario 64 if it's just the number as their are other N64 games. what about when you have to pay Ishnail 64 coins for Don Pianta's code? would that be a reference to the system or Mario 64 then?Pikmin theories (talk) 20:15, 10 April 2018 (EDT)
- We're talking about Super Mario Odyssey, which the developers stated being based on Super Mario 64 in many ways - mainly game and level design. Of course, the 64 of Paper mario: The Thousand-Year Door is rather a reference to the system; a more fitting example might be the 64 MHz in the Mario Kart 8 version of N64 Toad's Turnpike, which can be a reference to both Mario Kart 64 and the Nintendo 64 as well. I'm not sure that you can separate the two things, as said games have 64 in the name.--Mister Wu (talk) 20:43, 10 April 2018 (EDT)
I think I might understand what your saying.... you're saying it's a reference to the system but because the game's based on Mario 64 by extention that also makes it a Mario 64 reference?Pikmin theories (talk) 20:54, 10 April 2018 (EDT)
- I'm saying that the game is explicitly based on Super Mario 64 as the developers openly said that. Therefore, those 64 might be referencing exclusively the Nintendo 64 system, but it's impossible to tell until we find more specific references, as 64 is also the part of the Super Mario 64 name that distinguishes it from the other Super Mario games.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:19, 10 April 2018 (EDT)
Pre-release and unused content page?
Do you think we should have that page? There is a lot of things discovered in the game's files that we can put in. Thanks! By the way, I am new but I read this wiki all the time. I'll be on a lot helping whenever you need it! From, XxMarioFanxx
